What you'll do:
As a Senior Accountant based in Shah Alam, you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of accounting operations within a dynamic finance department. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing a skilled local accounting team across various functions such as ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets management, and cash-flow reporting. You will prepare detailed journal entries each month while maintaining meticulous balance sheets through regular reconciliations. Your expertise will be crucial during month-end closings as you analyse profit & loss accounts for internal reporting. Additionally, you will take charge of year-end financial reporting packages aligned with regulatory standards and coordinate external audits seamlessly. Compliance duties extend to SSM requirements as well as supporting tax projects alongside internal or external consultants. You will also assist in budgeting activities by conducting variance analyses. Beyond these core tasks, you will supply other departments with essential financial information upon request, administer accounting manuals and charts of accounts, safeguard company policies through diligent procedure adherence, drive improvements in finance-related processes, foster employee-oriented culture focused on retention and development, mentor junior staff or interns when needed, comply with health/safety/environment regulations, follow business processes rigorously, participate actively within the wider team network—all contributing towards delivering high-quality outcomes for stakeholders.
- Managing and monitoring the local accounting team responsible for general ledger, sub-ledger accounts payable and receivable, as well as fixed assets, ensuring all processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Preparing monthly journal entries and adjustments including work-in-progress, prepayments, accruals, taxes, and other relevant financial transactions to maintain precise records.
- Reviewing, analysing, and maintaining balance sheets by tracking account contents and performing thorough reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
- Preparing, reviewing, and analysing month-end balance sheet and profit & loss accounts for comprehensive financial reporting purposes.
- Overseeing cash-flow management by preparing weekly cash flow positions, notifying corporate treasury about intercompany payments, participating in collection processes, and liaising with project managers regarding overdue invoices.
- Managing the accounting process prepared by the team to ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Preparing year-end financial reporting packages according to company policy and Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards requirements, including coordinating external audits.
- Handling annual statutory audit preparation by liaising with external auditors for information provision, responding to audit queries, and finalising audited financial statements.
- Ensuring compliance with SSM requirements by preparing necessary documentation and supporting local tax projects with accurate filings in coordination with tax teams or consultants.
- Assisting the finance manager in preparing annual budget reports and performing variance analysis against actual figures.

- Proven familiarity with accounting standards (including end-of-month closing) as well as legal obligations ensures compliance across all activities.
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel enables you to handle complex data analysis tasks efficiently.
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA accounting software is highly desirable for seamless integration into existing systems.
