What you'll do

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of a full set of accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with established accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and ensure timely submission of comprehensive financial reports to management for review and decision-making.
  • Manage accounts receivable by preparing sales invoices, updating receipts promptly, and closely monitoring debtor aging to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Handle accounts payable processes including updating purchase invoices, processing payments efficiently, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Perform detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of all financial records within the organisation.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial documentation while ensuring strict compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Monitor daily cash flow activities to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and support effective financial planning across departments.
  • Liaise professionally with external auditors and tax agents during year-end audits and tax computations, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives by collaborating closely with departmental heads to gather data, analyse trends, and prepare reliable projections.
  • Apply analytical skills to identify discrepancies in financial data, enhance reporting accuracy, and provide valuable insights that assist management in making informed decisions.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in handling full sets of accounts within a medium or large-sized organisation using recognised accounting software packages.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate monthly financial statements along with timely submission of detailed management reports.
  • Strong background in managing both accounts receivable (including invoicing, receipt updates, debtor monitoring) and accounts payable (invoice processing, payment scheduling).
  • Expertise in performing thorough monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all records are complete and error-free.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current accounting standards as well as relevant regulatory requirements affecting financial reporting.
  • Experience monitoring cash flow activities on a daily basis to maintain adequate liquidity for operational purposes.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with external auditors and tax agents during audit cycles or tax computation exercises.
  • Ability to support budgeting processes by gathering data from multiple sources, analysing trends effectively, and preparing reliable forecasts.
  • Advanced analytical skills enabling identification of discrepancies within complex datasets while improving overall reporting accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills allowing you to work collaboratively across teams while communicating clearly with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
