Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join a growing and supportive team in Batu Kawan, Malaysia. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an international environment and enjoys being at the heart of financial operations, connecting local teams with global offices across Asia and Europe. The organisation is expanding rapidly in Southeast Asia, offering you the chance to play a pivotal part in supporting both finance and office administration functions.

What you'll do:

As a Finance Assistant based in Batu Kawan, you will be immersed in a diverse range of responsibilities that bridge finance, administration, and cross-border collaboration. Your day-to-day activities will involve supporting the General Manager with various administrative duties while also playing an integral role in accounting processes such as monthly closings, payroll management, and tax submissions. You will act as a vital connector between local teams in Malaysia and regional offices throughout Asia as well as European associates. By coordinating with auditors and CPAs, you will help ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Your organisational skills will be put to use managing office supplies and supporting both finance and engineering teams. Success in this role comes from your ability to communicate clearly across cultures, manage multiple priorities efficiently, and contribute positively to a friendly team environment.

  • Provide essential support to the General Manager by assisting with daily administrative tasks and ensuring smooth office operations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and assist in implementing best practices for accounting procedures.
  • Help maintain accurate records for audits while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
  • Participate actively in team meetings to share updates on financial matters and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing processes by preparing accurate reports and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Coordinate effectively with local Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and external audit partners to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage payroll processes including salary calculations and tax submissions for employees within the Malaysian operations.
  • Oversee procurement of office supplies and handle general arrangements to maintain an organised work environment.

What you bring:

To excel as a Finance Assistant in this dynamic setting, you will bring proven experience from previous roles involving accounting or finance administration—ideally within multinational organisations or fast-growing businesses. Your educational background equips you with solid technical knowledge while your interpersonal skills enable you to build trustful relationships across diverse teams. You are comfortable navigating complex reporting structures that span several countries. Your approach is methodical yet flexible enough to adapt quickly when priorities shift. Above all else, your dependability ensures sensitive information remains secure while deadlines are consistently met. Your enthusiasm for learning new systems or processes means you are always ready to take on fresh challenges alongside your colleagues.

  • A degree in Accounting or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates your understanding of core financial principles.
  • Fluency in both Malaysian and English languages to facilitate effective communication within the team and with international partners; additional language skills are considered advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities that enable you to interact confidently with colleagues at all levels as well as external stakeholders such as auditors or CPAs.
  • A positive attitude combined with strong organisational skills that allow you to manage multiple tasks independently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience working within multicultural environments or international companies is highly valued due to the cross-border nature of this role.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (such as Microsoft Office Suite) for document preparation, data entry, reporting, and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated reliability when handling confidential information related to payrolls or audits.
  • A collaborative mindset that supports teamwork across different departments including finance, engineering, and administration.
