An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Accountant to join a reputable organisation based in Petaling Jaya. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of a full set of accounts, working closely with regional teams and supporting business growth across Southeast Asia. You will be part of a supportive environment that values your expertise, encourages professional development, and provides exposure to both local and international accounting practices. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where your communication skills and attention to detail will be highly valued. Flexible working opportunities and ongoing training are available to help you thrive in your career.

What you'll do:

As an Accountant based in Petaling Jaya, you will play a pivotal role in managing the full spectrum of accounting activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing sales invoices, assisting with client receipt collections, supporting vendor registrations across Southeast Asia, compiling monthly reconciliations, developing cashflow forecasts, reviewing accounts through variance analysis, verifying staff expenses, processing payments, maintaining inventory records, preparing audit schedules, handling SST returns, managing intercompany transactions, and liaising with auditors and consultants. Success in this position requires exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Mandarin. You will also contribute to implementing robust accounting controls while supporting the Finance Manager on daily operations such as forecasting and trend analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively within a regional context while making meaningful contributions to business performance.

  • Maintain a comprehensive set of accounts, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare sales invoices promptly and assist with receipt collection from clients, maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
  • Support vendor registration processes for Southeast Asia clients by gathering necessary documentation and liaising with relevant parties.
  • Compile monthly bank reconciliation statements as well as other essential accounting schedules to ensure financial integrity.
  • Develop cashflow forecasts that support effective financial planning and resource allocation within the organisation.
  • Review and analyse monthly accounts, including conducting variance analysis to identify trends or discrepancies requiring attention.
  • Verify staff expense claims for accuracy and compliance before processing payments in line with company guidelines.
  • Process payments efficiently, entering all transactions into the accounting software while maintaining meticulous records.
  • Prepare detailed schedules for audit and tax purposes, including SST returns, intercompany invoices, and intercompany schedules for head office reporting requirements.

What you bring:

To excel as an Accountant in this role, you will bring proven experience managing complex financial operations within commercial environments. Your background should reflect deep familiarity with Malaysian accounting standards alongside practical expertise gained from at least five years’ work in finance or accounting positions. Your fluency in English and Mandarin enables seamless collaboration across multicultural teams while supporting regional initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel ensures you can handle large datasets efficiently. Your ability to understand broader business processes allows you to contribute meaningfully during cost analyses or forecasting exercises. Dependability under pressure is crucial given the need to meet strict reporting deadlines. Above all, your collaborative approach fosters positive relationships internally and externally—ensuring smooth audits, tax submissions, vendor interactions, and more.

  • Possession of a recognised professional accounting qualification along with membership in MIA is recommended for this role.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is essential to demonstrate foundational knowledge of core principles.
  • At least five years’ experience working within finance or accounting roles is necessary, including three years spent in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent communication abilities are vital; you must be able to express yourself clearly in both English and Mandarin (oral and written).
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications—especially Excel—is expected to manage data efficiently.
  • Prior exposure to regional finance roles or experience within the service industry would be considered advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to work dependably under tight timelines or deadlines is important for success in this fast-moving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments as well as external partners such as auditors or tax consultants.
