What you'll do:
- Develop, implement, and monitor robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure effective governance across all hospital functions.
- Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections that align with organisational goals and support sustainable growth.
- Oversee departmental budgets by ensuring prudent utilisation of resources and monitoring performance against targets for optimal efficiency.
- Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and board review, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processes, fixed assets management, and general ledger activities to maintain financial integrity.
- Ensure timely collection of patient billings, insurance claims, corporate billing, and other receivables through proactive revenue cycle management.
- Monitor hospital revenue cycles closely and recommend improvements to maximise revenue generation while minimising leakage or errors.
- Liaise with auditors, bankers, tax authorities, insurers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and reporting standards.
- Oversee procurement activities including supplier evaluations, negotiations, contract management, inventory control, and cost optimisation in accordance with policy guidelines.
- Manage Admission & Discharge operations by coordinating patient registration accuracy, admission flow efficiency, discharge turnaround times, billing information verification, and compliance with Ministry of Health regulations.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Management or related discipline is required for this position.
- Professional qualification such as MIA (Malaysian Institute of Accountants), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales) is highly preferred.
- MBA or Master's Degree is considered an added advantage for candidates seeking senior responsibilities within the department.
- Proven experience in financial management within healthcare or similar regulated environments demonstrates your ability to navigate complex compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills enable you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including clinical staff, social workers, insurers and external agencies.
- Excellent analytical abilities allow you to interpret financial data accurately for reporting purposes while identifying areas for improvement.
- Experience in procurement management including supplier evaluation and contract negotiation ensures cost-effective resource acquisition.
- Familiarity with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), taxation requirements and statutory obligations supports regulatory compliance efforts.
- Ability to lead departmental managers through coaching mentoring succession planning fosters a culture of teamwork accountability integrity continuous improvement.
- Competence in risk management frameworks internal control systems policy development enables you to identify mitigate organisational risks proactively.
