Group Accountant

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Accountant to join a respected organisation in Kuala Lumpur, where your expertise will be pivotal in shaping the financial future of a growing group. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of the group’s financial consolidation process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with all regulatory standards. You will play a key part in preparing consolidated financial statements, supporting regulatory submissions, and driving continuous improvements across reporting processes. The position is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, values professional integrity, and enjoys working closely with subsidiary teams to ensure consistency and excellence in financial reporting. With a focus on both current operations and future listing requirements, this role provides an excellent platform for career growth within a supportive environment that values knowledge sharing and teamwork. * Take responsibility for group-wide financial consolidation and reporting, ensuring all outputs are accurate, timely, and compliant with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards. * Work collaboratively with finance teams across multiple subsidiaries to maintain consistency in reporting practices and resolve any discrepancies through detailed analysis. * Contribute to ongoing process improvements and system enhancements while supporting regulatory submissions and preparing for future listing requirements.

What you'll do:

As a Group Accountant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be at the heart of the organisation’s Finance division, playing a crucial role in managing the end-to-end group consolidation process. Your day-to-day activities will involve compiling consolidated financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis, preparing detailed reports for both internal management use and external regulatory bodies. You will work hand-in-hand with subsidiary finance teams to ensure uniformity in reporting standards while addressing any inconsistencies or issues that arise. In addition to overseeing compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), you will also support preparations for future listing requirements by developing robust documentation and liaising with relevant authorities. Your commitment to continuous improvement will see you identifying areas where processes can be enhanced—whether through better controls or more efficient systems—and implementing these changes across the group. By fostering open communication channels between departments and maintaining rigorous attention to detail, you will help drive the organisation’s reputation for reliability, transparency, and excellence in financial management.

  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements for management review, ensuring all data is accurate and delivered within set deadlines.
  • Prepare comprehensive quarterly reports tailored for future Bursa Malaysia announcements as well as Bank Negara Malaysia submissions, maintaining high standards of compliance.
  • Monitor all group financial transactions meticulously to guarantee accuracy, timeliness, and proper oversight across every subsidiary.
  • Draft audited financial statements and develop thorough supporting documentation required for notes disclosures in line with best practices.
  • Liaise closely with subsidiary finance teams to foster consistent reporting standards and address any group accounting issues promptly and effectively.
  • Review and verify subsidiary financial reports regularly to ensure they align fully with established Group accounting policies.
  • Resolve any identified financial discrepancies by conducting detailed analyses and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) while preparing for future listing disclosure requirements.
  • Support interactions with regulatory bodies such as the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia when necessary, providing accurate information as required.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in group consolidation systems, financial reporting processes, and internal controls, then implement these enhancements proactively.

What you bring:

To excel as a Group Accountant in this organisation, your background should reflect substantial experience within accounting or finance environments where accuracy and compliance are paramount. Your academic achievements—ideally complemented by professional certifications—will underpin your technical expertise. You bring not only deep familiarity with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards but also practical exposure to the demands of group consolidations within complex organisational structures. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trusting relationships across diverse teams while your analytical mindset helps you navigate intricate reporting challenges. A proven track record of upholding integrity and confidentiality is essential given the sensitive nature of your responsibilities. Furthermore, your ability to adapt quickly when priorities shift ensures that critical deadlines are always met without compromising quality. By combining technical proficiency with a supportive attitude towards colleagues’ development, you contribute positively both to team morale and overall business success.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is essential for this position to ensure you have the foundational knowledge required.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, MIA, CA or CPA are highly preferred as they demonstrate your advanced understanding of accounting principles.
  • At least 6 years of experience in accounting or finance roles is necessary so you can confidently manage complex consolidation tasks.
  • Experience gained from Big 4 accounting firms or within the healthcare industry would be considered an added advantage due to their rigorous standards.
  • Familiarity with disclosure requirements for listed companies is strongly valued given the organisation’s plans for future listings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong analytical skills enables you to identify discrepancies quickly and propose effective solutions.
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality is expected at all times when handling sensitive financial information.
  • The ability to multi-task efficiently while working independently ensures you can deliver quality results even under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with a collaborative approach allow you to work harmoniously with colleagues across different subsidiaries.
  • Proficiency in developing controls, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) supports ongoing improvements within the Group Finance function.
