What you'll do:
As an Assistant Finance Manager based in Petaling Jaya, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of a major player in the property development sector. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing comprehensive accounting functions for designated companies within the group. You will be instrumental in ensuring all financial reports are prepared accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with statutory requirements. In addition to handling core accounting duties such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax estimation, and treasury management, you will also review or prepare schedules related to project costs and billings. Your expertise will be called upon during budgeting cycles as you assist with forecasts and collaborate with colleagues across departments. By mentoring junior staff or supporting small teams when necessary, you will help foster a collaborative atmosphere where everyone can thrive. Your proactive approach to process improvement will further enhance the efficiency of the finance function.
- Manage the full set of accounts for assigned companies, including general accounting functions, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax matters, and treasury activities while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review or prepare detailed schedules related to development costs, progress billings, redemption sums, and debtor management to support effective project tracking.
- Take responsibility for preparing tax estimations and schedules for the relevant company accounts in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of various accounting papers as well as fulfilling statutory reporting obligations to ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Support the annual budgeting process by contributing to budget preparation and forecasting exercises for assigned entities.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to gather necessary information for financial analysis and reporting purposes.
- Provide assistance with ad hoc tasks as required by senior management or finance leadership to address emerging business needs.

Your previous experience—ideally spanning at least four years—will have equipped you with hands-on expertise across all facets of financial management including statutory reporting, budgeting processes, tax compliance, and treasury activities. Experience working within property development environments would be beneficial but is not mandatory; what matters most is your willingness to learn new industry nuances. Your ability to nurture junior colleagues or support small teams will be highly valued as it contributes directly to the collaborative culture promoted by the company. Strong communication skills are essential since you’ll interact regularly with stakeholders from various departments. Above all else, your commitment to accuracy, reliability under pressure, openness to feedback, and enthusiasm for continuous improvement will set you apart.
- Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or hold a professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA which demonstrates your technical proficiency.
- Have accumulated at least four years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles within similar industries.
- Demonstrate experience in guiding junior staff or supporting small teams which highlights your nurturing interpersonal skills.
