A leading organisation in Subang Jaya is seeking a Head of Credit Control to join its Finance team. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced credit professional to drive the organisation's credit control function, strengthen cash flow performance, and enhance financial risk management across multiple business units. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, commercial decision-making, and contract negotiations, while providing the opportunity to lead process improvements and build a high-performing credit control team. Key Highlights * Lead and drive the overall credit control strategy, collections performance, and cash flow management across the organisation. * Play a key role in reviewing commercial contracts, strengthening payment protection mechanisms, and advising stakeholders on financial risk exposure. * Lead, mentor, and develop the Credit Control team while driving process improvements, governance enhancements, and operational excellence.

What you'll do

As the Head of Credit Control, you will be responsible for leading the organisation's credit control function with a focus on optimising collections, managing credit risk, and strengthening working capital performance. You will work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, and senior management to ensure effective receivables management while protecting the company's financial interests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the overall credit control strategy and operations across headquarters and branch offices.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable ageing and collection performance to ensure healthy cash flow.
  • Establish credit policies, SOPs, and internal controls to strengthen governance and minimise risk.
  • Assess customer creditworthiness and recommend appropriate credit limits and payment terms.
  • Manage debt recovery activities, including negotiations, escalation processes, and legal actions where required.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, reconciliation, and collection processes are maintained.
  • Conduct regular reviews of bad debt provisions and credit exposures.
  • Prepare collection forecasts, cash flow projections, and management reports.
  • Analyse AR trends, collection risks, and billing patterns to support business decision-making.
  • Review commercial agreements from a financial and credit risk perspective, including:
    • Payment terms
    • Milestone billing structures
    • Retention clauses
    • Liquidated damages exposure
    • Billing triggers
    • Dispute clauses
  • Partner with Sales, Project, and Service Operations teams to resolve collection issues and improve recovery performance.
  • Engage directly with key customers on significant overdue accounts and collection negotiations.
  • Support management in contract negotiations where credit risk exposure is material.
  • Lead and develop the Credit Control team through performance management, coaching, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement and digitalisation of credit control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits and provide regular updates on collection performance and risk exposure.

What you bring

The successful candidate will bring strong credit control leadership experience, commercial acumen, and a proven track record in improving collection performance within a complex business environment.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Credit Management.
  • At least 3-5 years of leadership experience managing credit control teams.
  • Experience within project-based industries such as construction, engineering, infrastructure, or similar sectors is highly preferred.
  • Strong exposure to commercial contract reviews and payment term negotiations.
  • Proven experience in debt recovery, bad debt management, and credit risk assessment.
  • Strong understanding of receivables management, cash flow forecasting, and working capital optimisation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience driving process improvement, automation, or digitalisation initiatives within Credit Control functions.
