What you'll do:
As Senior Finance Manager (Corporate finance) based in Penang you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of the Group’s corporate finance function. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing consolidated financial statements at various intervals; ensuring timely regulatory filings; maintaining compliance with MFRS/IFRS standards; managing treasury operations; supervising tax compliance; administering insurance programmes; supporting corporate exercises such as mergers or divestments; liaising with external stakeholders; developing your team; and contributing to strategic projects. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting processes combined with strong stakeholder engagement skills. You will also be expected to foster a collaborative environment within your team while upholding high standards of professionalism throughout every aspect of your work.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for the Group, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all reporting activities.
- Oversee Bursa Malaysia announcements, annual reports, and regulatory filings to guarantee compliance with statutory requirements and industry standards.
- Review consolidation adjustments and Group accounting policies to maintain consistency and uphold best practices across all entities.
- Manage banking relationships and financing facilities to optimise treasury operations and ensure effective cash management.
- Supervise corporate tax matters including indirect tax and withholding tax issues while driving tax planning initiatives and monitoring legislative changes.
- Oversee full finance and accounting functions of the holding company including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, Board support, and Audit Committee requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, and authorities to coordinate statutory audits and compliance matters efficiently.
- Administer the Group insurance programme by managing renewals, claims administration, reviewing coverage options, and implementing risk mitigation measures.
- Support mergers and acquisitions as well as restructuring exercises by assisting in due diligence processes, valuation activities, financial modelling tasks, coordinating with advisers/regulators, and preparing Bursa announcements or Board papers.
- Lead and develop finance team members by promoting accountability, integrity, professional development opportunities while undertaking additional duties assigned by the CFO or participating in strategic projects.
What you bring:
To excel as Senior Finance Manager (Corporate finance) you will bring extensive experience from previous roles involving group reporting/consolidation within large-scale organisations. Your technical proficiency should include mastery over MFRS/IFRS standards plus familiarity with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements. Beyond technical skills you must demonstrate outstanding analytical capabilities when interpreting complex datasets or identifying emerging risks/opportunities. Leadership qualities are paramount: you should have guided teams through challenging projects while nurturing their professional growth. Interpersonal communication skills are equally important—enabling you to build trustful relationships with both internal colleagues (senior management/Board/Audit Committee) as well as external stakeholders (auditors/tax agents/bankers). Experience handling insurance administration or supporting major corporate exercises adds further value but is not strictly required if other qualifications are met.
- A degree in Accounting or equivalent professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or CA(M) is required for this position.
- Membership with MIA is preferred as it demonstrates commitment to professional standards within Malaysia’s accounting community.
- You must possess at least ten years of progressive experience in group reporting/consolidation roles within large organisations or listed companies.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership capacity is essential for guiding teams through complex financial challenges.
- In-depth knowledge of MFRS/IFRS standards alongside familiarity with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements is crucial for ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical abilities are needed for interpreting complex financial data sets while identifying trends or potential risks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills are vital for building positive relationships with auditors/tax agents/bankers/authorities/external advisers.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively across departments or present findings clearly to senior management/Board/Audit Committee members.
- Experience in managing insurance programmes—including renewals/claims/risk mitigation—is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to support corporate exercises such as mergers/acquisitions/restructuring/divestments/fund-raising initiatives through due diligence/valuation/financial modelling activities.
