An exciting 12-month contract (renewable) has arisen for an Accounts Payable Specialist (Mandarin speaking) to join a reputable MNC in Kuala Lumpur covering China/HK/Taiwan markets. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative shared services environment and is passionate about ensuring smooth, compliant financial operations.

You will play a pivotal part in managing accounts payable processes, working closely with various teams to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

What you'll do:

As an Accounts Payable Specialist based in Kuala Lumpur supporting the APAC region (mainly China, HK and Taiwan), you will be entrusted with overseeing end-to-end accounts payable functions within a dynamic shared services centre. Your key responsibilities will involve the following:

  • Processing invoices efficiently, ensuring all bills and employee reimbursements are paid accurately and within set timelines.
  • Maintaining strict adherence to internal control frameworks, upholding compliance with company policies throughout all accounts payable activities.
  • Conducting daily financial transactions by verifying, classifying, computing, and recording accounts payable data using accounting software and databases.
  • Facilitating payment methods such as electronic transfers and cheques while following established approval processes for each transaction.
  • Supporting financial audits by providing timely access to requested accounts payable records and detailed reports as needed.
  • Collaborating with the Purchasing Department to confirm that every invoice matches a corresponding purchase order, addressing any discrepancies promptly.
  • Investigating and resolving payment issues by working closely with both internal stakeholders and external vendors or customers.
  • Tracking all payments and expenditures meticulously, including purchase orders, invoices, statements, and other relevant documentation.

What you bring:

To excel as an Accounts Payable Specialist in this setting, your background should include substantial experience managing accounts payable processes within a structured corporate environment, and you must be proficient in Mandarin due to extensive interaction with Chinese markets. Other requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field provides you with the foundational knowledge required for this role.
  • Three to five years of hands-on experience in accounts payable management ensures you can handle complex transactions confidently.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin are essential for effective communication across teams and with the China/HK/Taiwan markets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail enables you to process large volumes of data accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Experience using major accounting systems such as Navision or SAP supports your ability to adapt quickly within the organisation’s technology landscape.
  • Proven track record of adhering strictly to compliance requirements demonstrates your reliability in maintaining robust internal controls.
  • Willingness to train new team members showcases your commitment to knowledge sharing and building a supportive work environment.
