Know the project goal

Whilst it sounds very simple, more often than not projects fail because of a lack of consideration given in the pre-project stages to the purpose of the project and what the outcome needs to be. Having clarity on these things ensures you create your plan based on the end result and avoids possible confusion on the end goal during the production stages.


Communication with all stakeholders in the project is extremely important to the successful outcome of the project. Everyone involved needs to be working towards a common goal and this can only be achieved if communications are clear, relevant and accessible to everyone involved i.e. not all on site project workers will have access to email so it is essential you consider how you will communicate project goals to these team members.

Resources – the project team

Paramount to the success of a project are the resources required to get the job done. Team members will ultimately determine the outcome of the project which means getting the right skills and attitudes at the start is crucial. Make sure everyone in the team is motivated, working towards the same outcome, and any contractors are a cohesive element of the permanent team structure.
