Senior, Backend Developer (Java)

What you'll do: As a Backend Developer (Java), your role will be pivotal in driving the technical direction of products. You will be responsible for designing robust backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot while also leveraging various API development tools.

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-quality backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and API development tools.
• Optimise system performance, reliability, and scalability through testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements.
• Collaborate with technical leadership, product teams, and engineers to shape product design.
• Ensure technical solutions align with organisational goals. Take ownership of end-to-end solutions.
• Drive decisions to solve complex technical challenges autonomously.
• Enhance the software development lifecycle by promoting efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
• Develop innovative solutions to address system limitations and support high-traffic environments.
• Mentor developers and foster professional growth within the team.
• Contribute to technical strategy and help define engineering standards.

What you bring: The ideal candidate for the Backend Developer (Java) position brings a wealth of experience in API development with GraphQL and service-oriented / event-driven architecture. With at least 7 years of relevant work experience under your belt, you have a deep understanding of Java and Spring.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in API development with GraphQL, service-oriented / event-driven architecture.
• Significant experience on Java, Spring.
• Familiarity with AWS (Lambda, SQS, ECS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Elasticsearch), Redis, SQL is desirable.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
• First experience on SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) is desirable.
