Software Project Manager (Logistics)

Save job

A leading global provider of logistics and automation solutions is seeking a Software Project Manager to join their team in Selangor. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in delivering complex software projects that drive operational excellence for both new and existing customers. You will be at the forefront of integrating advanced software with cutting-edge automation, ensuring seamless project delivery from conception through commissioning and ramp-up. The organisation is renowned for its commitment to best-practice processes, continuous improvement, and fostering a supportive, collaborative culture where your expertise will be valued and your professional growth encouraged. With opportunities to work on high-impact projects across the APAC-MEA region, this role offers you the chance to expand your skills in a dynamic environment while enjoying flexible working arrangements and comprehensive training support.

What you'll do:

As a Software Project Manager based in Selangor, you will immerse yourself in a diverse range of responsibilities that span technical oversight, stakeholder engagement, solution integration, and quality assurance. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing multiple concurrent projects—each requiring careful coordination between internal teams and external clients. You will facilitate workshops to uncover client needs, develop robust project plans aligned with business objectives, and ensure that every phase—from design through deployment—is executed flawlessly. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical experts and business leaders will be crucial as you guide projects through complex environments. By leveraging your deep understanding of warehouse management systems and logistics processes, you will help shape innovative solutions that set new standards for efficiency and reliability. Your proactive approach will see you providing hands-on support during critical milestones such as commissioning or go-live events—sometimes requiring travel within the APAC-MEA region—while always upholding rigorous safety standards. Success in this role means not only delivering outstanding results but also contributing positively to a culture built on collaboration, learning, and shared achievement.

  • Oversee the full lifecycle management of software projects for both new implementations and enhancements for existing customers, ensuring all deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Manage technical and commercial aspects of each project within the defined software scope, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Coordinate overall solution integration during site commissioning and ramp-up phases, guaranteeing smooth transitions from development to operational use.
  • Lead interactive workshops with customers to accurately capture business requirements and translate them into actionable project plans.
  • Stay current with industry best practices within the logistics sector, applying this knowledge to optimise project outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide expert sales consultancy on software solutions by preparing detailed quotes and advising on best practice processes relevant to client needs.
  • Be available after hours as required during critical project stages such as commissioning, integration, and ramp-up to ensure uninterrupted progress.
  • Produce high-quality user documentation as part of the project realisation process, supporting effective knowledge transfer and system adoption.
  • Participate actively in commissioning and testing activities at customer sites across the APAC-MEA region when necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including IT Project Managers, Lead Logistics Consultants, Quality Assurance Managers, and IT Sales Consultants to deliver integrated solutions.

What you bring:

To excel as a Software Project Manager in this forward-thinking organisation, you will bring a wealth of proven experience managing large-scale software initiatives within fast-evolving logistics settings. Your background should include hands-on involvement with warehouse management systems as well as exposure to both traditional Waterfall frameworks and more adaptive Agile methodologies. You are adept at engaging stakeholders at all levels—from end users through executive sponsors—and have honed your ability to translate complex business needs into practical technical solutions. Your attention to detail extends beyond planning; it encompasses rigorous cost control measures, supplier coordination efforts, and meticulous adherence to quality benchmarks. In addition to formal qualifications in IT or related fields (such as Computer Science or Logistics), your fluency in English—both written and spoken—enables you to communicate ideas clearly across multicultural teams. Experience using tools like Jira or MS Project further enhances your effectiveness in tracking progress against key milestones. Above all else, your collaborative spirit ensures that every project benefits from open communication channels, mutual respect among colleagues, and a shared commitment to achieving outstanding results together.

  • At least five years’ experience managing complex software projects within logistics or material handling environments is essential for success in this position.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies enables you to adapt approaches according to project needs.
  • Advanced customer management skills allow you to build strong relationships with clients while effectively capturing their requirements.
  • Proven cost management capabilities ensure projects are delivered within budget without compromising quality or scope.
  • Experience managing suppliers supports seamless integration of third-party components into broader solutions.
  • A solid grasp of quality assurance processes underpins your ability to maintain high standards throughout each stage of delivery.
  • Exceptional documentation skills enable you to produce clear user guides and technical documents that facilitate smooth handovers.
  • Relevant certifications in Project Management (such as PMP or PRINCE2) demonstrate your commitment to professional excellence.
  • Supply chain certification or equivalent experience provides valuable context for understanding client operations.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations—including GAMP for pharmaceuticals or track-and-trace requirements—ensures compliance across diverse sectors.
