Save job

An esteemed financial institution in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Infrastructure Project Manager to champion mission-critical infrastructure projects within the banking and insurance sector. This permanent position is open exclusively to Malaysian professionals with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in project delivery, offering a unique opportunity to advance your career towards senior management roles.

What you'll do:

As an Infrastructure Project Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a pivotal role in delivering transformative infrastructure projects that underpin the operations of a major financial institution. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve orchestrating multi-disciplinary teams to execute strategic initiatives such as upgrading data centres, enhancing network security protocols, deploying core banking system infrastructure, and migrating services to cloud platforms. Success in this role hinges on your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while maintaining rigorous compliance standards. You will be expected to manage multiple stakeholders—both internal and external—ensuring that every aspect of the project aligns with organisational goals. By preparing comprehensive reports for management committees and supporting cost optimisation efforts, you will contribute directly to the institution’s operational excellence. This position offers significant scope for professional development as you collaborate with experienced colleagues on high-profile projects that shape the future of financial services technology.

  • Plan and deliver complex infrastructure projects in accordance with regulatory, cybersecurity, and audit requirements specific to the banking and insurance industry.
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle from initiation through planning, execution, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review.
  • Coordinate closely with internal infrastructure teams covering network, server, cloud, and cybersecurity domains as well as business stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ensure all project changes strictly adhere to IT governance policies, MAS/BNM regulatory standards, and internal compliance frameworks.
  • Track project deliverables meticulously while maintaining comprehensive risks/issues logs and facilitating timely resolution of escalations.
  • Prepare detailed project status reports for management review and governance committees to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support budgeting activities by optimising costs and managing vendor contracts effectively throughout the project duration.
  • Facilitate audits and risk assessments by providing necessary documentation and collaborating with compliance teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and recommending solutions for enhanced efficiency.
  • Foster strong relationships across departments to ensure seamless communication and successful project outcomes.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Infrastructure Project Manager position brings a blend of technical proficiency and interpersonal sensitivity developed through several years of experience in financial services. Your background should include substantial exposure to managing infrastructure projects under strict regulatory oversight—preferably within banking or insurance settings—where attention to detail is critical. You possess not only technical acumen across domains like network security, virtualisation, cloud platforms, disaster recovery planning, but also an empathetic approach when working with diverse teams. Your capacity for clear communication ensures that complex requirements are understood by all stakeholders while your collaborative spirit fosters trust among colleagues. Certifications such as PMP or ITIL further demonstrate your commitment to best practices in project management. Above all else, your reliability in handling sensitive information within compliance-driven environments sets you apart as someone who can be depended upon during high-stakes initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related fields is required for foundational knowledge relevant to infrastructure management.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in project management or infrastructure delivery within banking, insurance or financial services ensures familiarity with industry-specific challenges.
  • Proven understanding of key infrastructure domains including network security (firewall/LAN/WAN), servers (virtualisation/storage), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), disaster recovery strategies, and data centre operations is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience working in highly regulated environments with direct involvement in managing audits or risk assessments adds value to your candidacy.
  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g., BNM regulations), ISO27001 standards, and cybersecurity controls is highly preferred for compliance-driven projects.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, ITIL or relevant cloud certifications are considered advantageous for structured project delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills enable effective collaboration across technical teams, business units, and external vendors.
  • Excellent communication abilities are vital for engaging senior business stakeholders and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented approach combined with structured thinking supports robust documentation practices and efficient coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where compliance is paramount demonstrates adaptability and commitment.
