Product Owner (Payment Domain)
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Owner in the Payment Domain to join their dynamic team. This role aimed at simplifying, standardising, and digitising processes to facilitate business growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing a new platform for Cross-Border payments, focusing on product innovation and digital journeys.
What you'll do:
As a Product Owner in the Payment Domain, your primary responsibility will be leading the end-to-end delivery of developing a new platform for Cross-Border payments. You will utilise your deep knowledge of agile principles to define requirements, build and prioritise the squad backlog, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure delivery within budget and timelines. Your role will also involve working closely with markets for commercialisation and monetisation of capabilities, evaluating processes for optimisation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and policies.
- Lead product development and enhancement of existing products/features in line with overall group retail products strategy.
- Monetise capabilities and develop analytics to track performance.
- Build and prioritise Squad backlog in terms of user stories to achieve business goals.
- Manage relationships with Technology colleagues and other Product Owners.
- Work with markets in scope for commercialisation and monetisation of the capabilities.
- Evaluate processes for optimisation of technical stack and automation of back-end processes.
- Ensure high degree of stakeholder management.
- Ensure timely, quality submissions for internal governance forums.
- Ensure all applicable standards and policies are met to avoid regulatory/compliance lapses.
- Act as a governance leader promoting highest levels of ethical conduct.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Product Owner role brings extensive experience from a financial institution background, preferably in Retail Clients / Retail Product & Project Management. You will have a strong understanding of payment capabilities, digital products, and financial drivers. Your PMP/Agile certification, coupled with your understanding of the Agile framework, will be crucial in this role. Your strong financial management capabilities, understanding of Risk and Controls associated with payments, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills will set you apart. A positive attitude, ability to work under pressure, and strong analytical and numerical skills are also essential.
- At least 10-12 years of experience in a financial institution, preferably in Retail Clients / Retail Product & Project Management.
- Good understanding of payment capabilities, digital products, and financial drivers.
- PMP/Agile certification would be preferred.
- Strong understanding of payment schemes, network associations.
- Understanding of and delivery under Agile framework.
- Strong financial management capabilities: budget tracking, planning, forecast and variance explanations.
- Strong understanding of Risk and Controls associated with payments.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills: networking, negotiation and influencing.
- Positive attitude with the capability to work under pressure and deliver on multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
