What you'll do:
As Assistant Manager, IT Operations you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of technology operations for a diverse industrial group spanning several countries. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing complex projects that drive digital transformation while ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions tailored to evolving business needs. Success in this role requires a keen ability to balance technical oversight with strategic vision—ensuring operational excellence through effective resource allocation, contract management, financial stewardship, and continuous process improvement. - Oversee all aspects of IT operations including cybersecurity, risk management, infrastructure, service desk performance, shared services, and vendor relationships across the organisation’s regional footprint.
- Drive the delivery of digital services and manage business-critical IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring outcomes meet cost, quality, and time targets through formal project management disciplines.
- Champion process improvements within IT by identifying opportunities for optimisation and implementing best practices using modern tools and technologies.
- Manage IT financials including budgeting exercises (OPEX/CAPEX), commercial activities, contract negotiations, and vendor performance evaluations to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- Lead the implementation of cybersecurity initiatives according to strategic plans while coordinating incident response efforts with divisional and group cybersecurity teams.
- Develop and maintain robust business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery planning (DRP) frameworks to safeguard operations during crises or interruptions.
- Chair monthly service review meetings with IT vendors to monitor deliverables against service level agreements (SLAs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate enterprise architecture assessments including application portfolio reviews, obsolescence risk management, ERP transformation strategies, and solution roadmaps.
- Provide guidance to project teams by defining clear objectives, monitoring progress against measurable goals, facilitating feedback loops with stakeholders, and supporting options analysis for business cases.
- Engage regularly with internal users across all levels as well as external auditors, hardware/software suppliers, and outsourced service providers to ensure seamless communication on outages/emergencies and ongoing technology initiatives.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required; additional certifications such as ITIL are essential while PMP or TOGAF qualifications are highly desirable.
- At least twelve years’ proven experience managing large-scale IT/Technology operations including maintenance activities and senior stakeholder engagement within complex organisations.
- Demonstrated expertise in Azure cloud services as well as enterprise architecture principles; hands-on experience with cybersecurity frameworks is considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems integration alongside practical knowledge of IT operations support processes aligned with industry standards like ITIL.
- Exceptional financial acumen enabling effective budget management (OPEX/CAPEX), contract negotiation skills for commercial activities, and vendor relationship management capabilities.
- Advanced project management abilities encompassing scope definition, resource scheduling, risk mitigation strategies, change control processes, cost estimation techniques, quality assurance protocols—and the ability to communicate these clearly across teams.
- Strong emotional intelligence combined with collaborative leadership style that empowers team members to achieve shared objectives while nurturing talent development within a supportive environment.
