Site Specialist (Manufacturing)

What you'll do:
As a Site Specialist based in Shah Alam supporting Malaysia operations, you will play an integral role in ensuring seamless service delivery across multiple locations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close cooperation with automation and engineering staff to support plant operations while acting as the main point of contact for all IT/OT-related matters at your assigned sites. Success in this role requires you to be highly responsive to operational needs while fostering strong connections with internal teams and external partners.
- Support the efficient delivery of IT/OT services at various locations including plants and offices, within the region by collaborating with local teams.
- Act as the primary site contact for designated locations, providing or organising hands-on support to ensure successful service delivery.
- Manage hardware asset processes such as device replacement, break/fix activities, stock availability checks, and maintain accurate inventory records through regular audits.
- Consult on software asset management for local requirements, offering guidance on compliance and optimisation tailored to each site’s needs.
- Provide assistance for local IT/OT or facility applications as required by business management, including overseeing license management for local IT applications.
- Execute local IT procurement tasks by following established approval procedures and financial processes in line with organisational guidelines.
- Oversee the management and control of local IT service providers and contracts to ensure reliable service provision and adherence to standards.
- Maintain readiness and continuous improvement of critical onsite server rooms and IT facilities by monitoring cabling, UPS systems, security measures, air conditioning, fire protection, and other essential infrastructure.
- Serve as the point of contact for all business requests and escalations at the site level, ensuring timely communication with responsible teams for effective resolution.
- Ensure up-to-date documentation about entities and service environments is available for stakeholders to facilitate transparency and informed decision-making.
What you bring:
- University degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent proven track record demonstrating technical proficiency in IT/OT service operations.
- At least three to five year's experience working within multinational environments—preferably manufacturing units or mining companies, where you have supported complex IT/OT infrastructures.
- Proven background in IT project management including successful project execution from inception through completion within matrix organisations.
- Comprehensive understanding of industrial control systems such as PLCs, MES, SCADA, HMI technologies relevant to plant operations.
- Advanced technical knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies encompassing hardware management, software deployment, networking solutions, and facility maintenance.
- Experience managing partner relationships with suppliers or external service providers ensuring quality outcomes through collaborative engagement.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with regional teams as well as international colleagues across different functions such as HR, Finance, Operations.
- Recent certifications in ITIL v3/v4 demonstrating your commitment to best practices in service management along with project management credentials reflecting your ability to deliver results consistently.
- Fluency in business English allowing you to interact confidently within virtual global teams while navigating multicultural environments successfully.
- Willingness to travel primarily within the region to fulfil operational requirements as part of a dependable network.
