An exciting Linux Engineer job has just been made available at one of the manufacturing companies based in Kuala Lumpur.

About the Linux Engineer Role:
In this senior role, you are responsible for installation, configuration, and management of VMware/virtualisation infrastructure, including provisioning virtual machines and applying necessary patches, and maintaining backups. You are also responsible for resolving incidents, driving improvement measures, enhancing operational and security measures, and overseeing the operations of operating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and manage VMware/virtualisation infrastructure. Provision virtual machines and apply software and hardware patches to the infrastructure. Maintain and restore VM backups and snapshots
• Resolve complex incidents and initiate improvement measures independently. Continuously develop operational and security measures. Handle the hardening and operation of the operating systems
• Plan, install, configure, and commission complex IT systems. Prioritise and address service requests and problems with urgency, involving necessary units and external partners
• Apply ITIL framework successfully in BAU. Manage the authentication and authorisation infrastructure in Windows systems, including access and authorisation management
• Adopt Agile methodologies or agile implementation approaches

To succeed in this Linux Engineer role, you must have a minimum of five years of experience in a hands-on role supporting Linux, including SLES 12/15, SCE, RHEL 7/8, and RHCSA. Minimum Professional Level knowledge of SuSE Manager.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in computer science, or in a comparable field, and a minimum of five years of work experience in enterprise server platform operations
• Demonstrated expertise in IT security and ideally relevant certifications. Proficient in ITIL
• Minimum of five years in a hands-on role supporting Linux, including SLES 12/15, SCE, RHEL 7/8, and RHCSA
• Minimum of professional level knowledge of SuSE Manager
• Python scripting for automation and/or bash scripting. Strong knowledge of virtualisation software, such as vSphere and vCenter
• Excellent spoken and written English proficiency
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies or an agile implementation approach
