An exciting Lead MySQL DBA job has just been made available at one the fintech companies based in Kuala Lumpur.
About the Lead MySQL DBA Role: Reporting directly to the HoD of Infra, you are responsible for designing, building, and deploying databases aligning with organisational needs. You will partner with software developers and system architects to ensure database designs are streamlined, scalable, and finely tuned.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build and deploy databases aligning with organisational needs. Partner with software developers and system architects to ensure database designs are streamlined, scalable, and finely tuned
Establish and oversee database components like schemas, tables, indexes, and views. Continuously track database performance, promptly detect, and address performance concerns, and fine-tune database setups for optimal productivity
Execute routine data backups, ensuring data reliability and accessibility. Formulate and execute security protocols and methodologies for safeguarding sensitive information within the database
Set up and configure database management systems while keeping them up to date with the latest software enhancements
Oversee the entire ETL process, ensuring smooth data extraction, transformation, and loading
Constantly optimise strategies for efficient data storage and access. Strategise, manage, and execute data migration, database upgrades, and consolidation initiatives
Collaborate closely with application developers and system administrators to troubleshoot connectivity, performance, and integrity issues. Deliver technical support to end-users and address their database-related queries
To succeed in this Lead MySQL DBA role, you must have past work experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role and possess in-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and their associated tools.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) is a plus
Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role. In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and their associated tools
Strong understanding of database design principles, data normalisation, and indexing techniques
Proficiency in writing and optimising SQL queries and stored procedures
Familiarity with database security best practices and principles. Experience with database performance tuning and optimisation. Knowledge of data backup and recovery strategies
