An exciting Oracle DBA job has just been made available at one of our long-term retail clients based in Petaling Jaya.

About the Oracle DBA Role:
Reporting directly to the DBA Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring the availability and performance of database services, conducting capacity management, addressing and resolving issues and errors, handling installations and configurations, performing database recovery, and ensuring the overall integrity and security of the databases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a regional IT team for database creation, cloning, performance tuning, and testing tasks. Handle daily database tasks like troubleshooting, monitoring, compression, archiving, and user management
• Provide support for fixed working hours, five days a week, and be on standby for alternate weeks to support the new DC set-up. Provide remote support to on-site development teams
• Manage quarterly patching cycles with Oracle Platinum Support
• Regularly run DBSAT and Exachk reports to maintain system and database security. Test backups for routine DR testing
• Perform routine DBA tasks, including user and tablespace management for around 60 databases
• Work on project improvement initiatives. Implement and manage Grid Control 13C and Auto DOP, and apply your Exadata knowledge and experience in load tests and capacity planning, DBFS, AD/OID integration
• Apply your GDPR and PoLP knowledge and exposure to Cloud, Hadoop, or Big Data support

To succeed in this Oracle DBA role, you must have between four and five years' work experience in Oracle DBA.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Software/Computer Systems Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Operational Research
• Experience in RCA work and diagnostic skill, basic DBA skills-general database administration, cloning, recovery, partitioning , compression, patching/upgrades
• RMAN, Dataguard for backup, recovery, and DR. Performance Tuning (AWR, ASH, ADDM)
• Database creation, cloning, partitioning, and compression, patching and upgrades, Daily routine admin tasks
• Producing and maintaining documentation and scripts
