Senior Cyber Threat Specialist

An exciting Senior Cyber Threat Specialist job has just become available at a financial institution based in Malaysia. Your main responsibility is to elevate the cybersecurity/information security position of the company.

About the Senior Cyber Threat Specialist Role:
You will be responsible for providing technical advisory on relevant cyber or information security matters as well as facilitating effective cyber security incident and crisis management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical information security reviewer of requirements statements, feasibility analyses, operating procedure manuals, and other documents produced during the systems development process and any information systems change documents
• Maintain the ecosystem cyber risk monitoring with stakeholder engagement and aligned with changing threat landscape
• Establish a comprehensive suite of incident response processes, reporting templates and rules to formalise internal or ecosystem messaging in response to cyber incidents
• Bring pressing information security vulnerabilities to the top management's attention so that immediate remedial action can be taken
• Perform programme secretariat function for cyber security forum (e.g. Cyber Resilience Steering Committee, Internal Security Forum)
• Assist with coordination, documentation and reporting of Severity One or Two or any cyber security incident that may impact participants or the public
• Propose new approaches that will allow greater standardisation and more effective management of security measures
• Maintain regular engagement and proactive partnership with business and technology teams to ensure cyber/information security strategies align with business and technical needs, requirements, and constraints
• Participate in periodic information systems risk assessments, including those associated with the development of new or significantly enhanced business applications
• Analyse market and industry trends and provide input towards adjusting security strategy accordingly
• Provide expert input into the collective information security strategy to ensure that future security investments are aligned to key priorities such as business requirements, industry threat landscape, and risk appetite

The successful Senior Cyber Threat Specialist is a high-potential and motivated individual who goes the extra miles to make a difference while working closely with the business and be responsible for the risk position of this financial institution.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or other related discipline with relevant experience in managing cyber risk in financial market infrastructures, critical national infrastructure, military, security intelligence or equivalent
• Five to seven years of cybersecurity experience
• Practical understanding of and experience in threat hunting, threat intelligence, security monitoring and incident response
• Thorough understanding of end-to-end IT operations and how IT interfaces with business, risk management and compliance processes and IT Security
• Able to work under broad direction and a self-motivated individual who can work independently. Responsible and accountable for work performed and decisions taken
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and manage the relationship at all levels
