What you'll do:
As the Head of Section for Data Science, you will play a pivotal role in building a strategic, in-house data science capability. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading the delivery of advanced analytics solutions, overseeing the work of data scientists, and ensuring project compliance with data privacy and security policies. You will also assess the organisation's data science and AI maturity and devise a strategic roadmap for achieving higher levels of maturity. Your ability to manage stakeholders’ expectations effectively while establishing positive relationships will be crucial in delivering value.
- Build a strategic, in-house data science capability
- Enable continuous improvement of data, models and analytics visualisation
- Oversee the work of data scientists and ensure project compliance with data privacy and security policies
- Assess the organisation's data science and AI maturity and devise a strategic roadmap for achieving higher levels of maturity
- Provide consultation and collaborate with stakeholders across the business to provide advanced analytic and machine learning solutions

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Head of Section for Data Science position brings a wealth of professional experience in the field. With at least 15 years under your belt, including 5 years in a leadership role, you possess a strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, and data mining techniques. Your knowledge extends to SQL, Python, Hadoop, and BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik and PowerBI. Your excellent communication skills enable you to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, making you a valuable asset to the team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Sciences or related fields
- Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, and data mining techniques
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, Hadoop and BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik and PowerBI
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
