A leading freight forwarding company is seeking a General Manager to oversee full P&L ownership.

What you'll do:

As General Manager Freight Forwarding, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of the Malaysia office by guiding multiple departments towards shared objectives.

• Provides leadership and strategic guidance to department heads across Operations, Pricing, Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and HR & Administration to achieve overall business targets and service excellence.

• Oversees full P&L ownership for the Malaysia operation, driving revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.

• Leads sales performance by identifying target accounts, tracking pipeline opportunities, and converting prospects into long-term customers through cross-functional collaboration.

• Develops and executes sales and commercial strategies aligned with company objectives to expand market presence within the freight forwarding sector.

• Implements best practices across functions to enhance operational efficiency while fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

• Monitors departmental KPIs and financial metrics to ensure performance standards for productivity, service quality, and profitability are consistently met.

• Facilitates regular leadership meetings to address operational challenges, drive alignment, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Promotes capability building through knowledge-sharing and training initiatives, particularly within sea freight operations and related logistics functions.

• Drives adoption of new systems, technologies, and process improvements to streamline workflows while maintaining service standards and employee engagement.

What you bring:

To excel as General Manager, your background should include significant experience managing complex logistics operations within international organisations.

• A degree in Logistics or a related discipline is essential for understanding industry-specific challenges and solutions.
• At least 10 years’ experience including managerial roles within sea freight operations demonstrates your depth of expertise in this field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of sea freight forwarding processes ensures you can provide guidance across all relevant departments.
• Proven track record managing diverse teams within multinational companies highlights your ability to foster interdepartmental cooperation.
• Experience overseeing Operations, Pricing, Sales, Customer Service, Accounts, as well as HR & Admin functions showcases your versatility as a leader.
• A collaborative approach allows you to motivate others effectively while building trust-based relationships throughout the organisation.
