A leading global manufacturing and production organization in Bayan Lepas is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to oversee and elevate their end-to-end supply chain operations.

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to bring your expertise in capacity planning, materials management, strategic sourcing, and procurement to a forward-thinking organisation that values continuous improvement and customer-driven innovation. You will play a pivotal role in shaping operational policies, building dependable supplier relationships, and ensuring the seamless flow of goods and materials to meet customer requirements. The company offers a supportive environment where your leadership skills will be nurtured, and your contributions will directly impact key performance metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and cost optimisation. If you are passionate about developing high-performing teams, driving process improvements, and collaborating across departments to achieve organisational goals, this role provides the platform for you to thrive.

  • Take ownership of all aspects of supply chain management including planning, procurement, customer service, and logistics to ensure smooth operations aligned with customer needs.
  • Lead and develop a dedicated team by providing coaching, supervision, and performance management while fostering a collaborative and engaged work culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function to optimise processes, reduce costs, enhance supplier relationships, and support new business opportunities.

What you'll do:

As a Supply Chain Manager based in Bayan Lepas, you will be entrusted with overseeing the entire supply chain lifecycle from strategic sourcing through warehousing and logistics. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing robust operational frameworks that enable seamless movement of goods while upholding safety standards. You will guide your team towards achieving key performance indicators by nurturing their growth through regular coaching sessions. By collaborating with global colleagues, you will align local practices with international best practices. Your ability to anticipate material needs through close monitoring of purchase orders will be crucial in supporting production schedules. You will also play a central role in supplier negotiations—ensuring optimal contract terms—and drive initiatives aimed at reducing costs without compromising quality or timelines. During major plant shutdowns or restarts, your coordination skills will ensure minimal disruption. Success in this position requires you to maintain strict inventory controls while continuously seeking ways to improve departmental efficiency.

  • Develop and implement standard operational policies, procedures, and guidelines for comprehensive supply chain management covering planning, customer service, procurement, and logistics to guarantee efficient material flow based on customer requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor the supply chain management team by setting clear objectives, providing ongoing coaching and development opportunities, and managing performance to build an engaged group focused on excellence.
  • Ensure daily operations are executed according to established procedures and company policies while maintaining compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with global supply chain teams to optimise local operations in Penang through effective communication and alignment of strategies.
  • Monitor purchase order status with customers proactively to ensure sufficient lead times for material planning and achievement of monthly sales targets.
  • Coordinate production planning activities by working cross-functionally with other departments to ensure timely execution of schedules that meet organisational goals.
  • Plan material purchases strategically to support production needs while negotiating indirect material contracts for the plant and qualifying suppliers for inclusion in the approved supplier list.
  • Work actively with suppliers to identify cost reduction opportunities and shorten lead times in order to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the overall coordinator for major plant shutdowns by ensuring thorough planning and communication for smooth transitions during shutdowns and startups.
  • Maintain accountability for inventory control by meeting pre-agreed targets, ensuring material availability for production at all times, and achieving on-time delivery (OTD) as well as past due targets.
