Bunker Control Manager (Shipping)

Our client, a global leader in shipping and logistics, is seeking a Bunker Control Manager to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. What you'll do:

As a Bunker Control Manager, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of our client's shipping operations. You will oversee the enforcement of strict compliance of all bunkering procedures on board the vessel, protecting the company's interests when a bunkering operation is engaged. Your excellent communication skills will be put to use as you act as the operational link between suppliers, vessel’s command and Head Office. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will be crucial as you monitor and improve the operational performance of suppliers and third parties engaged in bunkering operations.

• Ensure strict compliance of all bunkering procedures on board the vessel
• Protect the company's interests during bunkering operations
• Manage claims arising from disputes between vessel and barge
• Monitor and improve the operational performance of suppliers and third parties engaged in bunkering operations
• Execute Head Office procedures in all bunkering operations
• Introduce bunkering procedures to third parties to ensure compliance
• Perform unannounced/announced controls by boarding chartered & owned vessels
• Act as the operational link between suppliers, vessel’s command and Head Office
• Define a strategy and a mapping of bunkering risky ports to the ops team

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Bunker Control Manager position brings a wealth of knowledge from the maritime or energy sector. With at least five years' experience as a bunker surveyor, you are well-versed in marine fuels and have an excellent understanding of all aspects of bunkering operations. Your fluency in English allows you to effectively communicate with diverse teams across different time zones. Your commitment to excellence, customer focus, teamwork, and strong communication skills make you an ideal fit for this role.

• Master’s/Bachelors degree, maritime or energy sector is highly desirable
• Minimum 5 years’ experience from bunker surveyor experience is highly desirable
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Excellent understanding of marine fuels
• Excellent execution skills, customer-focused approach, good team player mentality and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams, be on 24/7 standby for market watch
