Your role also includes coordinating material flows during product transitions or new launches while supporting cross-functional teams in sourcing decisions. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills as you work with internal stakeholders to recommend solutions that enhance customer satisfaction. Your contributions will be vital in driving process improvements that increase operational effectiveness throughout the procurement function.
- Oversee the end-to-end purchasing cycle for assigned segments and sites, including requisition generation, purchase order creation, follow-up, goods reception, and final payment processing.
- Establish optimal purchasing specifications by balancing quantity requirements, quality standards, cost implications, and production planning needs while identifying critical parts or suppliers requiring additional attention.
- Participate actively in contract negotiation strategies and development to secure favourable terms for the organisation.
- Determine departmental inventory management strategies and objectives across multiple segments and sites to ensure efficient material flow.
- Utilise ERP systems (SAP) to manage pegged requirements, source demand accurately, place purchase orders based on forecasts and production schedules, and monitor open orders for timely delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance closely by measuring against established KPIs, providing feedback, expediting or deferring orders as needed based on schedule changes, and resolving discrepancies or quality issues promptly.
- Negotiate at both order level and forecast demand level using standard techniques to achieve advantageous pricing structures such as rebates or price breaks.
- Support strategic supplier relationships by conducting market research, participating in routine meetings, tracking performance metrics, and communicating operational issues collaboratively.
- Coordinate material flows during product or BOM changes, obsolescence events, new supplier introductions due to product development initiatives, and manage inter-company transfers between warehouse locations.
- Collaborate with internal customers to provide high levels of service by recommending alternative supply options or resources while identifying opportunities for process improvement within the immediate work area.
