What you'll do:

As Procurement Manager Automotive based in Petaling Jaya, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s approach to sourcing used vehicles. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing innovative strategies that balance quality with profitability while expanding sourcing channels through strong supplier relationships.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing strategy that aligns with business objectives for volume, quality, profitability, and vehicle mix within the used car segment.
• Expand multi-channel sourcing avenues by engaging with trade-ins, auctions, dealers, wholesalers, leasing or rental companies, fleets, corporates, and direct consumer purchases to diversify supply.
• Forecast sourcing requirements in close collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and support business targets.
• Establish and nurture long-term relationships with suppliers to build trust and secure reliable supply agreements that benefit both parties.
• Negotiate competitive pricing structures, terms, and incentives to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining consistent availability of vehicles.
• Monitor market trends in the used car industry including depreciation rates and demand patterns; provide actionable insights on buying prices and vehicle mix to inform decision-making.
• Drive accurate vehicle valuations and pricing strategies aimed at maximising gross profit per unit (GPU) through data-driven analysis.
• Identify emerging opportunities in sourcing channels while proactively mitigating market risks to safeguard business interests.
• Oversee end-to-end workflows from lead generation to purchase completion including inspection, appraisal, negotiation, documentation, and logistics management.
• Leverage digital tools and data-driven decision-making processes to enhance operational efficiency and transparency throughout procurement activities.

What you bring:

To excel as Procurement Manager Automotive you possess deep insight into vehicle valuation processes as well as current market dynamics which enables you to make informed decisions about purchasing strategies. Your track record includes successful supplier negotiations where you have built lasting relationships based on trust and mutual benefit.

• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field is required for this position.
• An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable as it demonstrates advanced knowledge relevant to the role.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in used car sourcing, procurement, re-marketing or automotive operations is essential for success.
• Deep understanding of vehicle valuation processes along with market dynamics within the automotive sector is necessary for informed decision-making.
• Proven expertise in supplier negotiations coupled with relationship management skills are vital for building dependable partnerships.
• Experience leading multi-location teams ensures you can manage diverse groups effectively across different regions.
• Ability to forecast sourcing requirements collaboratively with cross-functional teams supports optimal inventory management.
• Competence in leveraging digital tools for data-driven decision-making enhances operational transparency and efficiency.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements along with audit protocols ensures compliance throughout procurement activities.
