A leading global metal manufacturer is seeking an Asia Pacific Procurement Manager to join their team in Shah Alam.
What you'll do:
As Asia Pacific Procurement Manager – Metal Manufacturing, you will be entrusted with overseeing supplier performance improvements while standardising purchasing processes across multiple countries.
- Collaborate closely with Global Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Management teams to develop, manage, and rationalise the supplier base in alignment with strategic business needs.
- Lead the part qualification and sample approval process with selected suppliers to ensure compliance with stringent manufacturing standards.
- Drive supplier selection through comprehensive qualification procedures that uphold company requirements for quality and reliability.
- Take ownership of key purchasing metrics, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance procurement effectiveness across all operations.
- Conduct structured analysis to identify performance improvement opportunities and communicate findings clearly with internal stakeholders for informed decision-making.
- Ensure best practice procurement processes are established and consistently followed throughout the global purchasing organisation.
- Develop positive relationships with key supplier personnel while acting as consultant and liaison between suppliers and internal teams.
- Investigate, analyse, and resolve supplier quality non-conformance issues through on-site audits, defect trend analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
What you bring:
Your proven experience as Asia Pacific Procurement Manager – Metal Manufacturing will include a solid background in manufacturing environments where you have demonstrated your ability to manage complex supplier relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or equivalent years of experience is required for this position.
- Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment is essential; experience in castings, forgings or machining operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in print reading, interpretation, and part measurement techniques is necessary for effective supplier evaluation.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate situations thoughtfully and prioritise factors for effective decision making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required; fluency in English is essential
- High proficiency in common software tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word as well as data collection and graphing capabilities is needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills are vital for successful collaboration between diverse functional teams within the organisation.
- Experience working within quality systems for manufacturing environments as well as assembly techniques is preferred.
- Comfortable operating in changing environments where deadlines must be met without compromising on quality or stakeholder engagement.
