Our client is seeking a Procurement Manager to join their team in Perai. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage procurement performance at the plant level, working closely with regional commodity buyers and managing local requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading indirect material buyers and supplier quality activities, ensuring a robust process and implementation at the plant level. This role requires complex problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
What you'll do:
As a Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing procurement performance at the plant level. You will interface between the Plant and the Procurement organization for all Direct and Indirect material related matters. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be put to use as you manage activities in the plant to achieve Quality, Cost and Delivery targets with suppliers. You will also be responsible for product productivity at plant level by acting as change leader. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our client's operations.
- Interface between the Plant and the Procurement organization for all Direct and Indirect material related matters
- Manage activities in the plant to achieve Quality, Cost and Delivery targets (QCD) with suppliers
- Prioritize local resolution of issues but escalate to Regional Procurement leadership when needed
- Follow-up on the suppliers' performance and run necessary action plans to ensure budget targets achievement
- Responsible for product productivity at plant level by acting as change leader
- Assure defining and execution of strategy for local suppliers within the sourcing process
- Evaluate make vs buy opportunities and support process in case of local subcontracting
- Ensure transparency, accuracy and timely update of material savings initiatives in alignment with plant controllers/Finance
- Manage, coach and develop the local Procurement team by setting challenging and achievable goals
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Procurement Manager position brings a wealth of experience in procurement management within an industrial environment. With a Master/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a business or engineering discipline, you have specialized knowledge in international purchasing. Your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with teams, while your leadership abilities allow you to guide and develop your team. Your practical problem-solving skills and ability to manage your own time will be key to meeting deadlines and achieving results.
- Master/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a business or engineering discipline with specialization in international purchasing
- Fluent in English, with an international mind set
- Min. 5 years experience as a commodity / plant buyer in an industrial environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and charisma, Capability to work in teams as leader or team member, strong collaborator
- Result Oriented
- Practical problem solving
- Ability to manage own time and meet deadline
