Our client is on the hunt for a knowledgeable Director, Global Commodity Management to spearhead a global team of category managers. This role will be at the forefront of crafting, propelling and implementing the global category and sourcing strategy for Class-A spend. The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of $1B global spend annually and will have the golden opportunity to forge strategic partnerships with top executives for key strategic & global suppliers.
What you'll do:
This is a new role, due to expansion to grow the global headcount complimenting their upcoming Penang plant. As the Director, Global Commodity Management, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the company's future by spearheading a global team of category managers. You will craft, propel and implement the global category and sourcing strategy for Class-A spend. Your leadership skills will be put to test as you lead negotiations with key strategic suppliers on commercial agreements. Your ability to build relationships will be crucial as you engage in relationship building and strategic partnership with top executives for key strategic & global suppliers.
- Craft, propel and implement the global category and sourcing strategy for Class-A spend
- Spearhead a global team of category managers to devise a clear global strategy for individual category
- Review category strategy with GCM team and key internal stakeholders periodically in relation to market dynamics and business model changes
- Lead negotiations with key strategic suppliers on commercial agreements
- Engage in relationship building and strategic partnership with top executives for key strategic & global suppliers
- Drive process improvements in supplier contract life-cycle management, optimization and standardization
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Director, Global Commodity Management position brings a wealth of experience in category management and strategic sourcing. With at least 15 years of experience under your belt, you are adept at handling electronic/PCB raw materials in multi-national electronics manufacturing companies. Your proficiency in supplier relationship management, supplier development, and supplier risk management sets you apart from others. You are known for your collaborative mindset with effective people management and organisation skills.
- Minimum 15 years of category management and strategic sourcing experience in handling direct materials in multinational electronics manufacturing companies
- Extensive experience in complex pricing & contract negotiations across multiple projects and programs
- Proficient in supplier relationship management, supplier development, and supplier risk management
- Adept in total cost management, cost modelling and should-cost analysis
- Collaborative mindset with effective people management and organisation skills
- Effective communication skills (incl. email, presentation), team facilitation and influencing skills
