Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Procurement Engineer to join their team in Klang. What you'll do:

As a Procurement Engineer, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our client's business. Your excellent negotiation skills will be put to use as you work with suppliers on lead time, cost, and quality. You'll also be tasked with monitoring supplier performance throughout the contract term. Your analytical skills will come into play as you secure and analyse market information to support purchasing decisions. You'll also assist the Engineering team on costing of new product development. Your role will extend beyond procurement as you provide technical support to local production including setting up new production lines and maintaining plant equipment.

  • Responsible for part & component sourcing, selecting and managing suppliers to achieve competitive cost, quality and delivery performance.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on lead time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the Company.
  • Monitor & administer the performance of supplier during the contract term.
  • Secure and analyse market information to support purchasing decisions.
  • Perform feasibility study of the localization projects.
  • Assist Engineering team on costing of new product development.
  • Work closely with Suppliers, Engineering team in new product development, qualification, transition and production trial run.
  • Perform technical inspection on new sample from local suppliers when required.
  • Provide Technical Support to local production including setting up new production line, maintenance of plant equipment and sourcing of spare parts.
  • Establish strategic relationship with key suppliers who are aligned to the companies needs.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Procurement Engineer role will bring a wealth of experience and a strong skill set. You'll have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Automation Engineering or its equivalent, coupled with at least 5 years' experience in sourcing/procurement activity involving sheet metal parts, wire mesh product and plastic parts. Your ability to work out costing for part cost & tooling cost estimation will be crucial in this role. As a strong team player, your excellent negotiation & effective communication skills will be put to good use. Your familiarity with manufacturing processes and experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control will be highly valued.

  • Bachelor of Degree in Mechanical/Automation Engineering or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sourcing/procurement activity involving sheet metal parts, wire mesh product and plastic parts.
  • Ability to work out costing for part cost & tooling cost estimation.
  • Strong team player with excellent negotiation & effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with least supervision, self-motivated, customer & result oriented minded.
  • Familiarity in manufacturing of sheet metal part, wire mesh production plastic injection & electrical control panel (enclosure).
  • Experience in sourcing of raw material (steel coil, wire rod, plastic resin), price & stock movement monitoring.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
