Our client is seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Engineer in the field of instrument manufacturing industry. This role requires a strong background in technical sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management.
What you'll do:
As a Purchasing Engineer, your role will be pivotal in driving the procurement process within the organisation. You will be at the forefront of sourcing essential electronic/mechanical components, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that all procured materials meet the highest quality standards. Your ability to collaborate effectively with various teams will be crucial in understanding technical requirements. Your keen eye for detail will enable you to monitor supplier performance closely, addressing any issues promptly. Your analytical skills will play a significant role in evaluating procurement data to make informed decisions. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining accurate records of procurement activities.
- Source and procure electronic components, PCBs, and/or mechanical commodity and equipment required for production processes.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance; negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure optimal agreements.
- Collaborate with material management, engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements and ensure that purchased materials meet specifications.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness; address any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers; conduct regular supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Analyze and evaluate procurement data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required information.
- Maintain all purchasing and supplier data in SAP.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of materials while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt and proper storage of purchased materials.
What you bring:
As the ideal candidate for the Purchasing Engineer, you bring a wealth of experience in procurement within the electronics engineering or manufacturing industry. Your strong knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes will be essential in this role. You possess excellent negotiation and communication skills, enabling you to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Your proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, coupled with your experience in SAP, will be crucial in managing purchasing data. Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, along with your keen attention to detail, will contribute significantly to your success in this role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within the electronics engineering or manufacturing industry.
- Additional experience in procurement of mechanical commodity is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in SAP is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
