A multinational heavy equipment manufacturing company is recruiting for a Strategic Buyer job to initiate cost savings, value engineering and localisation works for new product developments as well as existing products.

About the Strategic Buyer Role:
In this position, you will be responsible for managing designs and the procurement of commodities and focus on driving cost saving initiatives and localisation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the sourcing of parts and components as well as supplier selection to provide competitive cost, quality and delivery
• Collaborate with the internal engineering/QA team to propose potential process improvements to contribute to the Value Engineering and long-term savings aspect
• Review and analyse BOM requirements to identify potential cost reduction opportunities
• Prepare and present analysis and market research reports to support purchasing decisions
• Provide market information and other identified requirements for the purpose of reporting and analysis to aid business decision-making
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and provide technical support during new product development stage
• Responsible for maintaining commercial, legal and contractual compliance in all procurement transactions
• Manage key supplier relationships
• Identify and drive cost improvement initiatives to ensure cost competitiveness of identified category of purchase
• Provide ad hoc support to the supervising manager and the local management team in the organisation

To succeed in this Strategic Buyer role, you must have a good understanding of specific commodities, localisation projects and sourcing activities to be able to drive process improvement and cost saving initiatives

Key Requirements:

• Five years' working experience in technical sourcing and procurement of direct materials, with a focus on automotive and equipment manufacturing background
• Strong communicator, assertive and accountable during negotiations
• Ability to perform and present product costing estimations
• Relevant technical background is an added advantage for the purchase of items or services which require some degree of technical knowledge
