An international health care services provider in Malaysia is seeking a Purchasing Manager. In this job, you will oversee the purchasing functions for its nationwide operations.
About the Purchasing Manager Role: Functionally and administratively reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role requires you to execute and manage the stock and procurement process for medical supplies, capital equipment, and any other purchases necessary for the operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all purchasing activities, ensuring strict adherence to purchasing policies and procedures
Source routine and ad hoc purchase requests from internal customers
Manage the tender process and handle product shortages and recalls efficiently
Effectively manage vendor relationships and optimise procurement strategies
Analyse past spend trends and forecast future volumes for RFP processes
Liaise with suppliers for new products, price negotiations, and contract agreements
Evaluate and meet with potential suppliers regularly to build strong business relationships
Maintain optimal inventory levels across all centres
Generate and distribute monthly reports for finance and operations
Review and manage inventory holdings to ensure appropriate levels at all times
Conduct monthly inventory physical counts and reconcile the data
Analyse treatment costing and other consumables for efficient material usage
Develop minimum and maximum stock levels and set reorder points for each centre
Drive cost-saving initiatives and propose data evaluations to management before implementing product changes
Foster positive relationships with internal customers and external suppliers
Develop training programmes for Facility Administrators and Centre Inventory Champions
Attend all centre's inventory physical counts, identify issues, and suggest improvement plans to enhance inventory management
To succeed in this Purchasing Manager role, you will need to have a minimum of seven years' experience in logistics and warehouse management functions.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related analytics fields
Minimum of five years' experience in logistics and warehouse management, preferably in the retail industry and international trade
Proficiency in using computer-based data management systems
Experience in the medical/health care industry is preferred
Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, and basic skills in MS Word and Outlook is required
Background as a regulated pharmacist will be considered an added advantage
A sense of urgency and can handle unforeseen crises effectively
Skillful in maximising resources to achieve key metrics
Integral member of a highly motivated and cohesive management team
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, adept at attentive listening and effective communication across all organisational levels
Professional demeanour with the ability to interact persuasively and confidently at the executive level
