Save job

A manufacturing and production organisation in Butterworth is seeking a dedicated Supply Chain Associate to join their collaborative team.

This role offers you the opportunity to play a vital part in managing end-to-end logistics, ensuring seamless import and export processes, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners across international borders. You will be at the heart of supply chain operations, working closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and warehouse staff to guarantee timely shipments and compliance with all relevant regulations. The position provides an engaging environment where your Mandarin language skills will be highly valued as you interact with stakeholders from China and other regions. If you are looking for a supportive workplace that values attention to detail, effective communication, and offers flexible working opportunities, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

  • Play a key role in coordinating international logistics by managing inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring all goods move efficiently through customs and bonded warehouses.
  • Utilise your Mandarin language skills to build strong connections with external stakeholders from China, supporting smooth communication and successful business outcomes.
  • Join a welcoming team environment in Butterworth that encourages knowledge sharing, professional growth, and offers flexible working opportunities to help you balance work and life.

What you'll do:

As a Supply Chain Associate based in Butterworth, you will immerse yourself in a variety of tasks that are crucial for the smooth operation of international logistics. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing both inbound and outbound shipments from start to finish—this includes everything from arranging transport to handling customs clearance paperwork. You will also be responsible for keeping meticulous records of all import and export documents while ensuring full compliance with local regulations governing bonded warehouses. Your ability to communicate fluently in Mandarin will enable you to build positive relationships with overseas partners, particularly those based in China. By tracking indirect costs related to logistics activities and supporting the pricing team with accurate data, you will contribute directly to the company’s competitive edge. Additionally, your willingness to assist planners when needed demonstrates your commitment to teamwork. Success in this role comes from being detail-oriented, responsive to stakeholder needs, proactive about problem-solving, and enthusiastic about contributing ideas for ongoing process improvements.

  • Manage the complete process of inbound shipments by arranging transportation, overseeing customs clearance procedures, and raising Goods Received Notes (GRNs) through close coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, and the warehouse team.
  • Handle all aspects of export shipments by collaborating with freight forwarders to ensure goods are dispatched on schedule and meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain an organised archive of essential import and export documentation such as Commercial Invoice & Packing List (CIPL), K1, K2, and K8 forms for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
  • Ensure strict compliance with import classification standards as well as bonded warehouse rules to support regulatory adherence and minimise operational risks.
  • Track indirect costs associated with imports and exports, providing detailed reports to the pricing team so they can develop accurate and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Assist planners when required by offering logistical support or information that helps optimise supply chain planning activities.
  • Engage directly with external stakeholders from countries like China using your Mandarin language proficiency to facilitate clear communication and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including procurement, finance, and warehouse staff to ensure alignment on shipment schedules and document requirements.
  • Monitor shipment progress regularly to identify potential delays or issues early on, taking proactive steps to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function by identifying areas for process enhancement or cost savings.

What you bring:

To excel as a Supply Chain Associate in Butterworth, you will bring a wealth of practical experience gained over at least three years in similar roles focused on international logistics. Your expertise extends beyond basic shipping tasks—you have developed a keen eye for detail when it comes to document management and regulatory compliance. Your fluency in Mandarin sets you apart as someone who can bridge cultural gaps effortlessly while fostering trust-based relationships with overseas partners. In addition to technical know-how around customs procedures and bonded warehouse operations, you possess excellent interpersonal skills that make cross-functional collaboration second nature. Your methodical approach ensures nothing slips through the cracks even during busy periods; meanwhile your analytical mindset allows you to provide valuable insights into cost structures that inform strategic decisions. Above all else, your enthusiasm for learning new processes—and sharing best practices—makes you an invaluable member of any supply chain team.

  • At least three years of hands-on experience working within supply chain operations or logistics management roles involving import/export processes.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is essential due to frequent interactions with external stakeholders from China; strong English communication skills are also required for internal collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex shipping arrangements including customs clearance procedures for both imports and exports.
  • Experience maintaining comprehensive archives of shipping documents such as CIPL, K1, K2, K8 forms or similar paperwork required for regulatory compliance.
  • Solid understanding of import classification systems as well as bonded warehouse rules applicable within Malaysia or similar jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of accurately tracking indirect costs related to logistics activities and reporting these figures effectively for pricing analysis purposes.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across departments such as procurement, finance, planning, and warehousing teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong organisational skills that enable you to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy under pressure.
  • A proactive approach towards identifying potential issues in shipment schedules or documentation requirements before they escalate into problems.
  • Willingness to support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting enhancements that benefit overall supply chain efficiency.
