A leading FMCG organisation is seeking a Regional Sales Manager (FMCG) to join their Penang-based team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to make a significant impact in a highly respected consumer sales business, where your expertise in distributor management and field execution will be valued and nurtured. You will play a pivotal role in driving sales performance, developing business plans, and fostering a culture of excellence across the region. The company is committed to providing flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and supportive leadership that encourages both personal and professional growth. If you are passionate about building strong relationships, motivating teams, and delivering outstanding results in a dynamic market environment, this role offers the perfect platform for you to thrive.

  • Join a well-established FMCG leader with a reputation for nurturing talent and supporting career development through comprehensive training programmes and collaborative leadership.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities that empower you to balance your professional ambitions with personal commitments while contributing meaningfully to regional sales success.
  • Be part of an inclusive and dependable team culture where your interpersonal skills and commitment to excellence are recognised and rewarded as you drive impactful business outcomes.

What you'll do:

As Regional Sales Manager (FMCG), you will be entrusted with overseeing distributor partnerships throughout Penang. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around facilitating monthly planning meetings with key stakeholders, reviewing infrastructure capabilities, and guiding your team towards operational excellence. You will be instrumental in shaping strategic business plans tailored to both consumer trends and trade requirements while ensuring seamless communication of company initiatives across all levels. By leveraging advanced commercial analysis tools, you will monitor performance metrics closely—taking proactive steps whenever needed to sustain growth. Your ability to coach, mentor, and inspire your team will be vital as you foster an environment where collaboration thrives. Success in this role hinges on your capacity to manage budgets judiciously, optimise inventory flows, execute promotional activities flawlessly, and uphold rigorous standards of store execution—all while maintaining open lines of communication with internal colleagues and external partners.

  • Conduct monthly business planning meetings with designated distributors focusing on sales performances, coverage, call planning, distribution, merchandising, and service levels to continuously improve excellence in field execution.
  • Regularly review distributor infrastructure with the objective to upgrade as necessary to effectively handle the increasing competitive and challenging market environment.
  • Train, develop, and motivate the sales team including Business Development Representatives, Sales Executives/Supervisors, and Area Sales Managers to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Manage the distributor as a business unit and take responsibility for managing the profit and loss for the territory while ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Evaluate and define the route to market through distributor businesses by implementing cost-effective strategies that provide appropriate levels of service in compliance with organisational goals.
  • Develop comprehensive business plans for distributors that address both consumer and trade needs, including joint plans aimed at achieving yearly sales KPIs set by the company.
  • Apply commercial and information management techniques such as DMS & Analyzer to analyse results and take corrective action to maintain expected business outcomes.
  • Communicate company strategies and guidelines clearly to distributors, ensuring promotional activities are cascaded down and implemented effectively by all field sales personnel.
  • Ensure bottom-up sales forecasts by SKU from distributors are submitted two months ahead to facilitate accurate planning.
  • Monitor inventory levels versus sellout at all times to ensure optimal stock management across the territory.
  • Manage sales and marketing budgets efficiently, ensuring all planned promotional budgets are effectively spent in line with strategic priorities.
  • Monitor sales performance and KPIs closely by following through on actions designed to improve overall performance within the region.
  • Lead primary and secondary teams in developing and executing robust business plans that support both short-term targets and long-term growth objectives.
  • Provide coaching sessions for primary team members focused on personal and career development using structured assessment tools such as FCP & Field Work Reports.

What you bring:

To excel as Regional Sales Manager (FMCG), your background should reflect deep familiarity with distributor operations within consumer goods sectors. Your proven ability to craft actionable business plans—balancing both market demands and internal targets—will set you apart. You bring analytical acumen honed through regular use of commercial management platforms alongside an empathetic approach that values teamwork above individual achievement. Your history of nurturing talent through coaching sessions demonstrates genuine commitment to collective success. Experience handling inventory challenges ensures smooth product flow while your budgetary oversight guarantees resources are allocated wisely. Above all else, your interpersonal strengths—rooted in kindness, honesty, inclusivity—enable you to build lasting connections across departments. A formal qualification may enhance your profile but is secondary compared to your demonstrated capability in driving results collaboratively.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing distributor relationships within the FMCG sector, ideally supported by several years of relevant industry exposure in consumer sales environments.
  • Proven track record of developing effective business plans that address both consumer needs and trade requirements while consistently meeting or exceeding annual sales KPIs.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in commercial information management systems such as DMS & Analyzer for monitoring results and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities enabling you to communicate strategies clearly across diverse teams while fostering an inclusive atmosphere built on trust and mutual respect.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or training sales teams—including Business Development Representatives, Sales Executives/Supervisors, or Area Sales Managers—to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Sound understanding of inventory management principles coupled with practical experience optimising stock levels against sellout data within fast-moving markets.
  • Ability to manage complex budgets efficiently while ensuring promotional spend aligns with broader organisational objectives without compromising quality or effectiveness.
  • Capacity for collaborative problem-solving within cross-functional teams—demonstrating empathy, dependability, sensitivity towards others’ perspectives—and sharing knowledge generously among peers.
  • Commitment to upholding health & safety standards by participating fully in improvement processes; reporting hazards/incidents promptly; supporting injury management procedures as required by company policy.
  • Relevant academic qualifications such as a degree in management or related discipline would be advantageous but not essential if offset by substantial hands-on experience.
