Senior Sales Engineer

Our client is a leading global manufacturer and distributor of a comprehensive range of components. They are currently seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join their team in Penang. This role offers an exciting opportunity to spend 40%-60% of your time on the road, meeting customers face-to-face and maximising sales opportunities through B2B activity. You will be instrumental in identifying and qualifying leads/opportunities in CRM through various strategic initiatives.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth by maximising sales opportunities and building long-term relationships with customers. Your ability to understand customer needs, coupled with your expertise in B2B sales, will enable you to effectively cross-sell the full product range. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate customer records in CRM, preparing sales quotations, and participating enthusiastically in business development projects.

  • Spend 40%-60% of time on the road meeting customers in person
  • Maximise sales opportunities through regular outcall activity and face-to-face meetings
  • Proactively seek out new business for the company
  • Defend and grow existing revenue streams through excellent account management
  • Build strong internal relationships across departments to drive business objectives
  • Use questioning and listening techniques to understand customer’s application requirements
  • Prepare and follow up sales quotations, documenting all activity in CRM
  • Maintain accurate customer records and manage opportunities in CRM
  • Operate effectively within current policies and procedures relating to pricing, order entry and lead times
  • Participate enthusiastically in specific projects (business development and market research)

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Sales Engineer position brings a wealth of experience from a commercial environment, specifically within B2B sales. With at least 5 years' experience under your belt, you have a proven track record of growing sales territories and developing new business. Your background may include industries such as Semiconductor, Electrical & Electronics, System Integration or Motor Vehicle Industries. You are comfortable dealing with sales targets and budgets, and have experience managing opportunities using a CRM platform. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, is essential, and experience with D365 CE would be a plus.

  • Degree in Business / Engineering / Commercial with minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • 5+ Years’ experience in B2B Sales in a commercial environment
  • Proven track record of sales territory growth and new business development
  • Experience in Semiconductor, Electrical & Electronics, System Integration, Motor Vehicle Industries
  • Experience dealing with sales targets and budgets
  • Experience with opportunity management using a CRM platform
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, D365 CE (considered a plus with experience using it), and CRM system
