Save job

Our client is looking for a Store Manager to join a well-established lifestyle fashion brand in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. You will be responsible for sales, foster a supportive workplace, and set benchmarks for customer service excellence. The organisation is committed to providing ongoing training, encouraging growth and development within your team. If you are passionate about retail, this position will allow you to flourish while making a real difference.

What you'll do:

As Store Manager based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the day-to-day experience of both customers and staff. Your focus will be on fostering a supportive atmosphere where each member of your team feels valued and motivated. By implementing robust operational processes and collaborating closely with senior management, you will drive continuous improvement across all areas of store performance. Your commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and customer service will set the tone for success. Through careful planning of rosters and proactive problem-solving around inventory or staffing challenges, you will ensure that every aspect of the store runs smoothly. Your ability to analyse sales data thoughtfully will enable you to identify opportunities for growth while keeping loss prevention at the forefront. Ultimately, your empathetic approach to managing people—whether handling customer concerns or mentoring staff—will create an environment where everyone can thrive together.

  • Oversee all aspects of daily, weekly, and monthly store operations with responsibility for store keys and security protocols.
  • Recruit new retail team members as needed, ensuring high standards through careful selection, orientation, training, and coaching.
  • Develop effective sales strategies including game plans, leading the retail team to achieve sales targets collaboratively.
  • Provide comprehensive training on customer service standards in-store, setting benchmarks for the entire team to follow.
  • Ensure housekeeping tasks are completed according to the daily roster, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers.
  • Manage cash float, sales collection, and all monetary transactions with accuracy and organisational skill.
  • Work closely with senior management on operational matters, manpower issues, offering constructive feedback and solutions for improvement.
  • Oversee duty rosters to maximise sales efficiency during both peak and non-peak hours through thoughtful scheduling.
  • Maintain outlet appearance by ensuring cleanliness and adherence to visual merchandising guidelines for all merchandise displays.
  • Monitor stock movement, pricing issues, and merchandise levels in the storeroom to ensure optimal inventory control.
  • Analyse sales reports regularly and prepare solution plans for items with low sell-through rates.
  • Monitor attendance records, briefings, and key in Cap Plan data accurately for staff management purposes.
  • Take accountability for loss prevention measures including CCTV monitoring, inventory checks, and spot inspections.
  • Address customer queries and complaints with empathy and professionalism to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Plan monthly duty rosters under payroll cost constraints while ensuring full attendance compliance among retail team members.
  • Prepare detailed monthly reports for submission to senior management or head office as required.
  • Conduct regular stock take activities for the store and take responsibility for any stock loss incidents.
  • Assist the team with special projects or ad-hoc assignments as directed by management when necessary.
  • Be resourceful in identifying new sales opportunities within the store environment.
  • Ensure all retail team members adhere strictly to standard operating procedures as outlined by management.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as Store Manager will be instrumental in creating an environment where collaboration thrives. You bring not only technical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills that encourage open communication among staff members. Your background includes hands-on involvement with recruitment processes—selecting candidates who share your commitment to quality service—and providing ongoing coaching that helps others grow professionally. You understand how important it is to maintain accurate records whether managing cash flow or preparing monthly reports; attention to detail is second nature. Your ability to communicate effectively across languages ensures inclusivity within diverse teams while your willingness to work flexible hours demonstrates reliability. Above all else, your empathetic approach means you handle challenges—be they customer complaints or inventory discrepancies—with sensitivity and understanding. This combination of practical knowledge plus emotional intelligence makes you ideally suited for this role.

  • Possess at least SPM qualification; Professional Certificate/Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in any field is preferred for this position.
  • Demonstrate 4-5 years of relevant experience in retail management or equivalent roles within similar environments.
  • Show fluency in both written and spoken English as well as Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin is considered an added advantage but not mandatory.
  • Exhibit passion for retail work alongside enthusiasm for learning new skills within a collaborative setting.
  • Display positive attitude towards teamwork while being able to adapt quickly within fast-paced environments when required.
  • Bring excellent interpersonal communication skills that foster trust among colleagues as well as customers alike.
  • Willingness to work according to pre-planned shift hours including weekends or public holidays as part of a dependable team effort.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint is essential for reporting duties.
  • Demonstrate commercial thinking with a mindset focused on driving sales through shared goals rather than individual achievement.
