This role is perfect for someone with an extensive network within government agencies, including the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Finance, and other related bodies.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying early-stage projects, influencing key decision-makers, and strategically positioning the organisation for tender invitations and large-scale projects.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Business Development (Defence), you will be responsible for identifying potential government projects at their earliest stages. Your excellent relationship-building skills will be utilised as you develop and maintain connections with key decision-makers across various government ministries and agencies. You will explore new areas for business growth, tapping into previously unexplored markets within government contracts. Your role will also involve building a robust network within ministries and related bodies, including MINDEF, Armed Forces, Ministry of Finance, among others. Working closely with internal teams, you will tailor proposals aimed at winning government tenders. Staying abreast of government policies, procurement processes, and market trends will be crucial to maintaining a competitive edge. Furthermore, your leadership skills will shine as you guide and mentor a team focused on business development.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Head of Business Development (Defence) position brings a proven track record in business development with a focus on government sectors. Your extensive network within key government bodies such as MINDEF, Armed Forces, Ministry of Finance, and other relevant agencies will be invaluable in this role. A strong understanding of government procurement processes, especially in technical or industrial sectors, is essential. Your ability to influence decision-makers and secure tender opportunities will be key to your success. Strategic thinking capabilities, exceptional negotiation, communication, presentation skills are also required. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field is necessary; a Master’s degree would be an added advantage. Lastly, a minimum of 10 years of experience in business development with exposure to government or defence sectors is expected.
