You will be at the forefront of developing channel-specific strategies, leveraging data-driven insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful trade marketing campaigns.

What you'll do:

As Trade Development Manager, you will be entrusted with managing trade marketing operations across assigned retail environments. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve crafting channel-specific strategies that align with broader business goals while utilising data-driven insights from various sources such as retail audits and shopper research. You will generate engaging shopper stories that inform category strategies and develop actionable solutions for in-store excellence. By monitoring performance metrics closely, you will ensure that both channel and brand objectives are consistently achieved. Your role also includes collaborating extensively with internal teams—Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance—to develop impactful campaigns and support new product launches. You will recommend promotional guidelines rooted in shopper understanding while overseeing POSM delivery for seamless execution. Budget management forms another crucial aspect of your remit; you’ll optimise spending efficiency through rigorous analysis. Success in this role hinges on your ability to combine strategic planning with collaborative execution while maintaining agility in response to market shifts.

  • Establish channel-specific strategies tailored to different retail environments and execute detailed plans that achieve defined business objectives for the oral care category.
  • Analyse sales data, customer off-take data, retail audits from sources such as Nielsen and Kantar, and shopper research to identify new business opportunities and address challenges within the market.
  • Develop compelling shopper stories using insights to create winning category strategies and actionable in-store solutions that drive engagement and sales.
  • Monitor channel and brand performance continuously against business plans, proactively developing alternative strategies when required to ensure targets are met.
  • Stay ahead of changes in the FMCG landscape by gathering market intelligence on competitive pressures and adapting strategies and tactics accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Brand Managers and Sales teams to design brand-building activities, promotional campaigns, and key selling points for new product launches.
  • Prepare comprehensive trade launch plans for new products, including pre- and post-launch evaluations, ensuring all trade requirements are incorporated into the listing process.
  • Recommend clear promotional guidelines based on shopper understanding and oversee timely delivery of Point of Sale Materials (POSM) to sales teams for effective implementation.
  • Build strong working relationships with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to enhance overall business performance through effective communication and partnership.
  • Optimise trade promotion budgets by conducting detailed analysis and implementing strategic cost-improvement initiatives that maximise return on investment.
