An exciting Global Category Manager (PCB Lamination) job in a multinational world leading manufacturing and production company to be based in Penang, Malaysia has just become available. This company is a PCB and IC substrate manufacturer that is setting up a new plant in Malaysia.
About the Global Category Manager (PCB Lamination) Role:
Reporting to the Director of Category Management based in Hong Kong, this company is looking for a competent Global Category Manager to lead the PCB Lamination commodity management in global level.
Key responsibilities:
Category Management
- Manage laminate and pre-preg of related global spend annually for related category
- Devise a clear global category strategy to reflect business needs and engage with key internal stakeholders to assure a flawless implementation under a matrix environment
- Review category strategy periodically in relation to market dynamics and business model changes, and adjust the category strategy accordingly
Strategic Sourcing
- Develop, manage and execute sourcing strategies through a deep understanding of market dynamics and trends, cost drivers and vendor landscapes and internal matrix environment
- Lead negotiations with suppliers on commercial agreements (pricing, rebate, payment terms, etc.) to achieve cost savings, standards terms and ROIC improvements
Supplier Management
- Lead supplier business review process to drive continuous improvement in quality, delivery, technology and cost performance through Supplier Performance Review (SPR) Programme
- Manage with suppliers early in risk assessment and mitigation plan for business continuity and to build a resilient supply chain upstream
Contract Management
- Lead negotiating and closing various vendor contracts such as general business agreement, rebate programme, vendor manged inventory, supply assurance agreement, strategic partnership agreement, joint development agreement, etc.
- Act as commercial liaison between Legal and supplier business partners on finalising the contract terms
Cost Management
- Apply the process of analysing the total cost of ownership for the Chemical category
- Identify and define internal and external cost drivers, develop cost models and establish “should cost” estimates
To succeed in the Global Category Manager (PCB Lamination) role, you must have experience in category or commodity management in lamination materials, preferable from PCB manufacturing.
Key Requirements:
- BSc/MSc in Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Management or Chemical Engineering preferred. Certification in Supply Chain profession (e.g. CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CSCMP, CPL, CPCM, etc.) is also an advantage
- Minimum of 10 years of category management and strategic sourcing experience in handling electronic/PCB raw materials, e.g. laminate and pre-preg in multinational electronics manufacturing companies. Prior working experience in PCB shops or material suppliers is preferred
- Demonstrate extensive experience in complex pricing and contract negotiations across multiple projects and programmes
- Good in supplier relationship management, supplier development, and supplier risk management
- Collaborative mindset with strong team cohesion, strong project management, organising and analytical skills
- Ability to work well in a high-paced, dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure task completion timely
