An exciting Senior Category Manager job based in Penang, Malaysia has become available at a world-leading manufacturing and production company. This company is a PCB and IC substrate manufacturer that is going to set up a new plant in Malaysia.
About the Senior Category Manager Role:
Reporting to the Director of Category Management based in Hong Kong, this company is looking for a competent Global Category Manager to lead the PCB Raw Material Commodity management on a global level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Devise a clear global category strategy to reflect business needs, enable the sourcing/procurement activities of chemicals at the highest value benefit to the company
- Actively monitor internal/external trends, synthesise and distil the business intelligence into actionable opportunities
- Cultivate, enhance, and deepen cross-functional stakeholder relationships at all levels serving as the subject-matter expert on behalf of the procurement organisation
- Develop, manage and execute strategies for the chemical category regionally and globally
- Lead negotiations with suppliers on commercial agreements (pricing, rebate, payment terms, etc.) to achieve cost savings, standards terms and ROIC improvements
- Lead supplier business review process to drive continuous improvement in quality, delivery, technology and cost performance through Supplier Performance Review (SPR) Programme
- Early engage with suppliers in risk assessment and mitigation plan for business continuity in order to build a resilient supply chain upstream
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance business and partnering relationship
- Be responsible for negotiating and closing various supplier contracts
- Manage contract expiration/renew mechanism to ensure execution continuity
- Apply the process of analysing the total cost of ownership for the chemicals category
- Identify and define internal and external cost drivers, develop cost models and establish “should cost” estimates
To succeed in the Senior Category Manager role, you must have experience in category or commodity management in chemical, preferable from PCB manufacturing.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years' category management and strategic sourcing experience in handling electronic/PCB raw materials e.g. Laminate and Prepreg in multinational electronics manufacturing companies. Prior work experience in PCB shops or material suppliers is preferred
- Demonstrated extensive experience in complex pricing and contract negotiations across multiple projects and programmes
- Good in supplier relationship management, supplier development, and supplier risk management
- Adept in total cost management, cost modelling and should-cost analysis
- Collaborative mindset and strong project management, organising, and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills (incl. email, presentation), team facilitation and influencing skills
- Ability to work well in a high-paced, dynamic and matrix environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously across multiple geographic regions/time zones
- Skillful in business and spend analytics and familiar with ERP tools (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Power BI, etc.
- Ability to train the trainers for the site procurement team
