An exciting Senior Supplier Quality Engineer job has become available at one of the leading automation engineering companies based in Penang. Reporting directly to the Head of Department, this is a role for an engineer who is a subject matter expert in their field.

About the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer role

In this business-critical role, you will be responsible for all activities within the engineering function, from the concept stage through to completed design to ensure component selection, DFM, and documentation criteria is acceptable to produce finished products with the lowest cost and highest quality.

Key responsibilities:

• Review engineering designs early in the development process and identifying and proposing design alternatives with associated cost and risks in support of manufacturing
• Drive and participate in proto/pilot and production build strategies
• Support sustaining products with contract manufacturing partners through ECOs, rework instructions, deviations, etc.
• Assist in ensuring a quick and smooth transition to production at the targeted cost goals set by the corporation
• Support outsource partners as requested in solving specification issues on organisation’s part numbers
• Assist engineering team in qualifying parts and assemblies to be transferred to Malaysia
• Interact with all groups to assure compliance of organisation’s specifications

To succeed in the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer job, you must have a good understanding of assessing supplier capabilities on supplier qualification and selection for new and ongoing product developments focusing on quality, delivery, cost, service and global presence.

Key requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience desirable
• Electro-Mechanical design experience a plus
• Experienced in commodities: Sheet Metal, Machining, Castings, Plastics, Cables, Connectors, Power Supplies, Mechanical Assemblies, Peripherals & OEM Products
• Sourcing experience required
