A rapidly growing edible oils and animal nutrition manufacturing company is seeking an Oil & Fats Chemist. In this job, you will ensure that products meet and exceed customer requirements for quality and food safety.
About the Oil & Fats Chemist Role:
In this Oil & Fats Chemist position, you will ensure that products meet and exceed customer requirements for quality and food safety and develop an in-depth understanding of specific systems. You will also be responsible for the minimisation or process variation, process recovery realisation, waste reduction, cost minimisation and provide back-up support to specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle customer audits, project initiatives and follow up closely with customer needs
- Approve final production and assurance of compliance to customer specifications
- Manage method development and oversee instruments in the lab
- Maintain and coordinate collaboration between chemist technician and training systems
- Provide process improvement support, specialised testing, training, and audit systems
- Analyse data to identify trends, troubleshoot, come up with corrective action and communicate findings regarding processing data, final product and wastewater with relevant stakeholders
- Assess quality parameters and systems including cross checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing, and oversight of analytical testing performed in control rooms
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
To succeed in the Oil & Fats Chemist role, you will need prior chemist or QC experience, working in a lab environment in the edible oil and fats manufacturing industry.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant chemistry or food manufacturing field of study
- Four years of work experience as a chemist or QC executive
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a management role as a Production Manager/Assistant Manager
- Hands-on experience in laboratory equipment namely GC-MSMS, GC-FID, HPLC, NMR, ICP-OES, etc.
- Independent, analytical, and critical thinking in problem-solving approaches
- Able to troubleshoot issues and possess the foresight to plan ahead
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong stakeholder management capability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties
