Save job

A Regional Marketing Director covering APAC region has just been made available with a global education brand. This is a remote position with extensive travelling across the region.

A prestigious global organisation is seeking a Regional Marketing Director to join their Asia Pacific team, based in Kuala Lumpur or elsewhere in the region. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to shape the future of higher education marketing by advising university partners on strategic initiatives that drive student recruitment, brand development, and institutional growth. You will work closely with senior university leaders, including presidents and provosts, providing expert guidance on market opportunities and supporting the creation of innovative academic programmes. As part of a collaborative global network, you will influence marketing strategies across multiple markets, contribute to regional and organisational success, and enjoy flexible working arrangements with frequent travel opportunities. If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact in higher education and thrive in a supportive, knowledge-sharing environment, this role offers unparalleled scope for professional growth.

  • Advise senior university leadership teams across Asia Pacific on strategic marketing initiatives that drive student recruitment, programme development, and institutional brand growth.
  • Collaborate with a global network of marketing professionals and benefit from flexible working arrangements and frequent travel across partner university locations.
  • Mentor senior marketing leaders within partner institutions while contributing to regional and global projects that shape the future of higher education marketing.

What you'll do:

As Regional Marketing Director, your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around building trusted relationships with senior university leaders throughout Asia Pacific. You will be instrumental in shaping institutional marketing strategies that support ambitious growth objectives while ensuring alignment with global partnership standards. Your expertise will help partners identify emerging market trends, develop compelling brand narratives, design scalable recruitment campaigns, and launch innovative academic programmes. By mentoring senior marketers within partner institutions and facilitating cross-university collaboration, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your ability to interpret market research data will inform actionable recommendations that keep your partners ahead in a competitive landscape. Frequent travel will allow you to engage directly with stakeholders across the region while maintaining close ties with your global colleagues.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to university leadership teams across Asia Pacific, supporting the development and execution of comprehensive institutional marketing strategies tailored to diverse markets.
  • Participate in joint strategic planning sessions with prospective and existing partner institutions to evaluate growth opportunities and assess readiness for new marketing initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance on multi-channel marketing strategy, brand positioning, student recruitment, and lead generation aligned with each institution’s unique priorities.
  • Assess existing marketing capabilities within partner universities and identify opportunities to enhance effectiveness, scalability, and alignment with long-term goals.
  • Lead advisory processes for product and programme development by identifying market opportunities and supporting the creation of new academic offerings informed by student demand.
  • Guide the development of differentiated brand positioning strategies that resonate with both domestic and international student audiences.
  • Support universities in defining target student segments and personas for domestic students, international students, and emerging recruitment markets.
  • Advise on go-to-market strategies for academic programmes and institutional offerings, including digital campaigns, social media engagement, school partnerships, B2B channels, and more.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing among partner universities by promoting best practices in campaign planning, brand management, student recruitment strategy, and adoption of new marketing technologies.
  • Act as a guardian of global brand standards across all partner institutions to ensure consistency in communications and promotional activities.

What you bring:

To excel as Regional Marketing Director you will bring extensive experience leading large-scale marketing functions—ideally within higher education or similarly complex sectors—where your interpersonal skills have enabled you to build consensus among diverse stakeholders. Your background includes hands-on involvement in launching successful multi-channel campaigns that blend digital innovation with traditional outreach methods. You are adept at nurturing talent within your teams through mentorship while fostering an inclusive environment where knowledge sharing is valued. Your analytical mindset allows you to interpret market intelligence effectively so that your recommendations are always grounded in evidence. Experience advising C-suite executives or serving as a consultant on strategic transformation projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with emerging trends such as AI-driven marketing tools or new approaches to student engagement will set you apart. Above all else, your commitment to collaboration ensures that every initiative supports shared organisational goals.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred for this senior-level position.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in marketing roles with significant leadership responsibilities overseeing large teams or complex projects.
  • Proven track record developing and executing multi-channel marketing strategies across both digital platforms (social media, web) and traditional channels (events, print).
  • Experience designing effective marketing organisations including capability development, talent mentorship, and succession planning within diverse environments.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking skills combined with strong analytical abilities to translate complex institutional goals into actionable plans.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills enabling you to influence senior leaders across varied cultural contexts with empathy and clarity.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise managing multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills allowing you to convey insights persuasively to executive audiences as well as operational teams.
  • Fluency in English is essential; additional language capabilities such as Thai, Bahasa Indonesia or Vietnamese are advantageous but not mandatory.
