Strategic Communications Lead
A fast-growing investment bank in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Strategic Communications Lead to shape and elevate its brand presence across Asia. This role offers the opportunity to build communications frameworks from the ground up within a dynamic, high-growth environment. You will work with a small, high-impact team, gaining regional exposure and strategic influence while driving storytelling, media engagement, and brand positioning for an emerging financial institution.
As Strategic Communications Lead based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be at the heart of shaping how an ambitious investment bank presents itself to the world. Your day-to-day will involve crafting compelling narratives that translate complex financial topics into accessible stories for clients and stakeholders. You will develop strategic messaging frameworks that underpin all communication efforts—whether producing insightful thought leadership pieces or managing real-time event coverage. Your responsibilities extend beyond writing: you will oversee agency partnerships for PR initiatives; drive SEO optimisation through analytics; prepare executives for media engagements; and ensure every piece of content aligns with the organisation’s evolving brand identity. Success in this position means building trust through clarity of message while supporting business growth via effective stakeholder engagement. You will thrive if you enjoy working hands-on within a lean team where your contributions have immediate visibility—and where your ability to adapt tone across different formats sets you apart as a true storyteller.
- Lead all aspects of corporate communications across internal channels, external platforms, and client-facing materials to ensure consistent messaging aligned with organisational goals.
- Develop clear strategic messaging frameworks that articulate the organisation’s vision, values, and market positioning for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Produce high-quality written content including newsletters, corporate updates, announcements, marketing collateral, website copy, thought leadership articles, and event communications that reflect the brand’s tone and objectives.
- Write long-form commentary on financial markets, investment trends, and industry developments to establish the organisation as a trusted thought leader within the sector.
- Create editorial calendars that maintain consistency in brand voice while ensuring timely delivery of key messages across multiple channels.
- Manage relationships with external agencies such as creative firms and PR consultants to coordinate campaigns and maximise communication effectiveness.
- Own the SEO strategy by conducting keyword research, optimising content for search engines, analysing performance metrics using tools like GA4 and SEMrush, and refining strategies based on data-driven insights.
- Prepare media materials including press releases, speaking notes, Q&A briefs, and key messaging documents while coordinating with media outlets for editorial coverage opportunities.
- Support executive communications by drafting public-facing commentary and ensuring alignment between leadership messaging and overall brand narrative.
- Produce event-related communications such as speeches, press materials, eDMs (electronic direct mail), post-event coverage reports; provide on-site coordination to ensure message alignment during regional events.
What you bring:
- At least five years’ experience in communications, public relations, journalism, content strategy or related fields demonstrating your ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
- Exceptional writing skills with proven command of long-form English content creation—capable of translating intricate financial or technical subjects into engaging narratives suitable for diverse audiences.
- Intellectual curiosity combined with enthusiasm for researching markets, finance trends or industry developments to inform strategic communication decisions.
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals including keyword research techniques; experience leveraging analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Search Console or SEMrush to optimise content performance.
- Excellent organisational abilities enabling you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining structure under tight deadlines.
- Ability to adapt tone seamlessly across corporate communications (internal memos), editorial outputs (thought leadership), client updates or event-related materials as required by context.
- Comfort working collaboratively within a lean team environment where initiative is valued; willingness to take ownership of projects from start to finish without extensive oversight.
- Fluency in English is essential for success in this role given its centrality to all written outputs produced by the team.
