Legal Advisor

A leading organisation is seeking a highly skilled Legal Advisor to join their Malaysia operations. What you'll do:

As a Legal Advisor, you will be at the heart of the organisation’s legal function.

• Provide timely legal advice on Malaysia’s laws, regulations, and industry requirements to internal stakeholders across various departments.
• Ensure that company operations, policies, and practices are consistently aligned with Malaysian corporate, commercial, labour, data protection, and regulatory laws.
• Monitor legal and regulatory updates affecting the business and recommend necessary actions to maintain compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, vendor agreements, letters of appointment (LOAs), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), service agreements, and other legal documents as required by the business.
• Ensure all contracts adhere to corporate standards and risk management guidelines while maintaining proper documentation within an organised contract repository.
• Support company secretarial matters including preparation of board or committee materials as well as filings with relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Commerce.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements including licenses, permits, annual filings, and other obligations under Malaysian law.
• Manage pre-litigation matters efficiently and coordinate with external law firms when litigation is required to protect the interests of the organisation.
• Provide support in handling disputes, complaints, and claims involving employees, vendors, partners or regulators by offering practical solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with external counsel, regulators and government authorities while assisting in license applications, renewals and regulatory submissions.

What you bring:

As the legal advisor, you will bring a wealth of legal experience.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law (LL.B., LL.M. preferred) demonstrating your academic foundation for this role.
• Licensed to practice law in Malaysia which ensures you are qualified for all local legal requirements.
• Minimum 3– 7 years of experience in corporate or commercial legal work either in-house or at a law firm showing your proven track record.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian labour law, commercial law, contract law and regulatory compliance enabling you to provide accurate guidance.
• Excellent command of Bahasa Malaysia and English both spoken and written
• Strong analytical skills paired with meticulous attention to detail ensuring thoroughness in every task undertaken.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities within a flexible working environment reflecting your adaptability.
• Demonstrated capacity for collaborative problem-solving within teams fostering an inclusive approach to achieving organisational goals.
