AM/M Legal Affairs A leading organisation in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Legal Affairs AM/M to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with senior leadership. It provides high ownership as the organization’s key legal expert, with the ability to shape and strengthen the legal and compliance framework post-transition.
What you'll do:
You will play an integral part in safeguarding the organisation’s interests through diligent management of legal affairs.
- Provide comprehensive advice, review, and finalisation of legal documents including sale and purchase agreements for land and housing projects, sub-sale transactions, tenancies, corporate loans, bridging loans, housing loans, joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, service agreements, and other contracts relevant to the business.
- Maintain and update standard contract formats and clauses in line with recommendations from external panel solicitors and the Legal Consultant to ensure consistency and compliance across all documentation.
- Review policies related to Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) compliance; apply for and renew PDPA certificates; conduct internal audit checks; update PDPA clauses for use by relevant departments; and facilitate awareness initiatives as required.
- Advise on Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) policies as well as whistleblowing procedures; conduct policy reviews; perform internal audits; maintain compliance documentation; and support communication efforts regarding governance requirements.
- Manage legal risks associated with PDPA, ABAC & Whistleblowing policies by collaborating with the Human Resources department and other stakeholders to implement effective compliance frameworks.
- Support both internal and external audits involving legal documentation by preparing necessary records, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and ensuring timely responses to audit queries.
- Act as the primary liaison for accepting court summonses; coordinate with the Company Secretary on regulatory announcements; assist departments in reviewing court papers; liaise with external solicitors; gather supporting documents for litigation matters; oversee case progress; troubleshoot issues; update material litigation records; and ensure proper record-keeping.
What you bring:
To excel in this role your background should reflect substantial hands-on experience managing commercial contracts within property development or corporate environments. Key requirements :
- Holds an LLB degree and CLP qualification, with 7–10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) as a practicing lawyer.
- Demonstrates maturity and a strong thought process in handling complex legal matters and making sound judgments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage confidently with stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, thriving in an environment that values knowledge sharing and collective growth.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
