What you'll do:

As Legal and Compliance Manager for Real Estate Investment Trusts, you will play an instrumental role in guiding the organisation through complex regulatory environments while upholding high standards of corporate governance. Key responsibilities :

• Oversee the compliance agenda for the entire group, ensuring that all Malaysian business entities adhere to regulatory standards and best practices.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve compliance frameworks, policies, and awareness programmes tailored to property investment and REIT operations.
• Deliver strategic legal counsel on matters relating to property investment transactions, REIT operations, commercial agreements, and corporate governance.
• Ensure full compliance with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, Securities Commission regulations, and other statutory obligations relevant to the business.
• Engage proactively with external parties including regulators, trustees, auditors, and external counsel to maintain transparent communication channels.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Secretarial, and Corporate Communications teams to ensure accurate reporting and disclosure in line with Bursa Malaysia standards.
• Anticipate changes in regulatory landscapes by strengthening internal controls and frameworks to mitigate potential compliance risks before they arise.
• Review contracts, governance documents, compliance filings, and other legal documentation to safeguard organisational interests

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for Legal and Compliance Manager brings extensive legal and compliance experience. Key responsibilities include:

• Holds an LLB degree and CLP qualification, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) as a practicing lawyer.
• Possesses strong leadership experience overseeing compliance functions within a Malaysian public-listed company or real estate investment trust (REIT) environment.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of property investment processes, REIT operational structures, and corporate governance frameworks applicable in Malaysia.
• Exhibits strong analytical capability in interpreting complex regulations and formulating practical, effective compliance solutions.
• Communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, and is skilled in delivering clear and persuasive verbal and written presentations.
• Maintains high standards of integrity and professionalism, with a balanced approach to independent decision-making and collaborative teamwork.
• Familiarity with contract review processes for commercial agreements related to real estate investments is advantageous
• Ability to anticipate and respond to emerging regulatory trends affecting the property investment or REIT sectors demonstrates strong strategic foresight.
