Legal Associate / Senior Associate

A well-established and long-standing Malaysian law firm is seeking a Legal Associate or Senior Associate to join their highly respected legal team. This role offers you the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of financing transactions, lead transactions end-to-end. What you'll do:

As a Legal Associate / Senior Associate, you will be involved in the following key areas:

• Advising on Corporate and Syndicated Loans – Provide legal advice on various financing structures, including bilateral and syndicated loans, revolving credit facilities, and term loan agreements for corporate clients.
• Drafting and Reviewing Banking Documentation – Prepare, review, and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, guarantees, and other banking instruments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Regulatory and Compliance Advisory – Advise clients on compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia regulations, financial services laws, and anti–money laundering requirements relevant to banking transactions.
• Due Diligence and Transaction Support – Conduct due diligence on borrowers, assets, and securities involved in financing deals, and coordinate with financial institutions to ensure smooth transaction execution.
• Client Relationship and Risk Management – Work closely with banks, corporates, and financial institutions to structure transactions, mitigate legal risks, and support long-term client relationships through strategic legal guidance.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Legal Associate or Senior Legal Associate role will bring proven experience gained within the field of corporate banking or commercial banking law.

• 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in corporate banking or commercial banking legal practice is required for this role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and colleagues.

• High attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
